5K today- 6th in the bag- 1st time around the local parkrun route

Today, I am reflecting on how far I have come...

Time machine back to April, running for 1 minute was a HUGE task!!!

Today, I completed my 29th run after graduation and have completed 6 x 5K runs in amongst that.

I am not making the greatest shakes (some others that have graduated in July are in the 10k distances and others doing half marathon challenges), I am happy sticking with the 5K for now. Quite simply, there are not enough daylight hours in the day for me to fit in running with working full time, keeping a house running with two children and a husband- even in lockdown!! At the end of the day, the race is long but only with yourself.

If I look back at what I wanted to do, I have achieved it โœ… Having said that. I didn't start the year with a plan to do C25K (but always wanted to be able to run), but when the song says "so this is Christmas and what have you done?", the answer is "Learned how to run and completing 5K regularly with sub 40 on the clock" ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

Boom! ๐Ÿ’ฅ

You play with the hand you're dealt.

Keeping up the 5km runs is good. When we get round to March and the evenings are bright again perhaps you will have the time to extend your range.

Yes, I will see what I feel like doing.

For now, I am happy with the 30 mins or 5K and if I can fit in 3x per week I would be more than happy. Just knowing I can go out and do a 5k if I want if enough for now.

Well done Plattszo, you should be proud of what youโ€™ve achieved! Like you, I am only running 5k, I would like to increase my distance but itโ€™s just difficult at the moment with work/kids/life!

Thanks RKip.

Juggling isn't in it!! ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚ But I know when I need to go and must find the time, even if something else is dropped ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ฌ Afterwards, it is all worth it.

Congratulations ๐Ÿฅณ. We shouldnโ€™t compare ourselves with each other but itโ€™s human nature, sometimes we do. They say we need to be as kind to ourselves as we are to our friends, thatโ€™s something that I think Iโ€™m still learning - well done you on your run !

Yeah, it's true.... Just need to remind ourselves on what the original purpose was and move the goal posts back!!

Talking to ourselves like we would our friends!! VERY good point โค

Boom ๐Ÿ’ฅ indeed! I can relate so much to your journey, and hope you have as much fun as me in exploring a runnerโ€™s world! And I am also taking it very slow in terms of progressing to the next levels, but progressing we are! We got this!

Well done Plattszo, youโ€™ve done so much this year. Just celebrate that! It doesnโ€™t matter what others have done. Theyโ€™ll all have different circumstances to you and maybe theyโ€™ll have different goals too.

Itโ€™s your challenge, your life and your achievement so just be proud of you!

You are doing very well indeed Plattszo regarding your running, to think that over the last 6 months you have achieved something that not too many people have managed, congratulations on all your runs ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿพ ๐Ÿ‘

Thank you for posting this Plattszo, itโ€™s a great read for me as I too couldnโ€™t run more than 60 seconds before starting C25K!

Iโ€™ve just completed week 8 and know I will continue to consolidate my running just like you have.

Congratulations to you on learning how to enjoy your running!

That's great! It also means that, when Parkrun returns, you can say with legitimacy "I can do this". It's a great feeling and well deserved. Sticking to 5km for now makes perfect sense.

Well done you! Remember comparison is the thief of joy! Have your own plan (my plan is not to plan) and also never say never (I said Iโ€™d never do 10k but I now say Iโ€™ll never do 10 miles!! ๐Ÿคฃ). Youโ€™ve done this for YOU and I suspect your life doesnโ€™t allow much time for that.

Well done Zo, great to hear youโ€™re still out there and still enjoying your running. We can definitely look back at this weird old unpredictable year of 2020 and count our C25k graduation as one of the best things weโ€™ve done. You can easily aim to increase your distance next year if itโ€™s something you want to do ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

Well done, you've come a long way!

Yes, quite a few have gone on to work towards 10k, but there will be many more like us who are happy to get out a couple of times a week, running for 20 to 30 minutes, whether or not we have hit the magic 5k (personally I haven't). I have struggled for the past few weeks but I went out on Monday and managed a 25 minute run after a 3 week lapse, so I was chuffed :)
