Time machine back to April, running for 1 minute was a HUGE task!!!
Today, I completed my 29th run after graduation and have completed 6 x 5K runs in amongst that.
I am not making the greatest shakes (some others that have graduated in July are in the 10k distances and others doing half marathon challenges), I am happy sticking with the 5K for now. Quite simply, there are not enough daylight hours in the day for me to fit in running with working full time, keeping a house running with two children and a husband- even in lockdown!! At the end of the day, the race is long but only with yourself.
If I look back at what I wanted to do, I have achieved it ✅ Having said that. I didn't start the year with a plan to do C25K (but always wanted to be able to run), but when the song says "so this is Christmas and what have you done?", the answer is "Learned how to run and completing 5K regularly with sub 40 on the clock" 😁😁
Boom! 💥

For now, I am happy with the 30 mins or 5K and if I can fit in 3x per week I would be more than happy. Just knowing I can go out and do a 5k if I want if enough for now.
Well done Plattszo, you should be proud of what you’ve achieved! Like you, I am only running 5k, I would like to increase my distance but it’s just difficult at the moment with work/kids/life!
Congratulations 🥳. We shouldn’t compare ourselves with each other but it’s human nature, sometimes we do. They say we need to be as kind to ourselves as we are to our friends, that’s something that I think I’m still learning - well done you on your run !
Celebrate your 6 fabulous 5ks and all the other wonderful runs you’ve achieved - we are lapping those that haven’t got off the sofa yet!! ( having a mental block how to spell couch??) x
Boom 💥 indeed! I can relate so much to your journey, and hope you have as much fun as me in exploring a runner’s world! And I am also taking it very slow in terms of progressing to the next levels, but progressing we are! We got this!
I will be here ( yapping at your heels given my height!🤣, actually make that yapping at your Brooks 👟 👟) ) but I will be here telling you just how awesome a multitasker you have become!
Top juggling skills Zoe!... and you’ve missed another 20 things off the juggle list!
I keep telling you how fab you are and I need you to listen! 🥰 x
5k’s Zo!!! Ha a few months back it was 5s (as in 5 seconds...
Well done Plattszo, you’ve done so much this year. Just celebrate that! It doesn’t matter what others have done. They’ll all have different circumstances to you and maybe they’ll have different goals too.
It’s your challenge, your life and your achievement so just be proud of you!
You are doing very well indeed Plattszo regarding your running, to think that over the last 6 months you have achieved something that not too many people have managed, congratulations on all your runs 🏃🏾 👍
I love that you aren’t wishing for more but happy with what you can fit in, well done for keeping it up and it’s no mean feat to run 5k and sub 40 mins? my fastest was 40.44 and i felt amazed, be strong, be proud
That's great! It also means that, when Parkrun returns, you can say with legitimacy "I can do this". It's a great feeling and well deserved. Sticking to 5km for now makes perfect sense.
Well done you! Remember comparison is the thief of joy! Have your own plan (my plan is not to plan) and also never say never (I said I’d never do 10k but I now say I’ll never do 10 miles!! 🤣). You’ve done this for YOU and I suspect your life doesn’t allow much time for that.
Well done Zo, great to hear you’re still out there and still enjoying your running. We can definitely look back at this weird old unpredictable year of 2020 and count our C25k graduation as one of the best things we’ve done. You can easily aim to increase your distance next year if it’s something you want to do 👍🏃♀️
Yes, quite a few have gone on to work towards 10k, but there will be many more like us who are happy to get out a couple of times a week, running for 20 to 30 minutes, whether or not we have hit the magic 5k (personally I haven't). I have struggled for the past few weeks but I went out on Monday and managed a 25 minute run after a 3 week lapse, so I was chuffed
