I always say to people on here after graduation C25K is yours to do whatever you want with. It is the diving board into a whole exciting world of possibilities.
This year I have changed my training around a little to accommodate my body recovering from surgery. Little did I know it would spark something in me that had been lurking for a little while. Race Walking.
I know I will always run, I fought so hard and for quite a long time to become a runner, there is no way I would let it slide and have to start all over again, the sense of accomplishment I get from running has not been rivalled by anything. I still run every week, just shorter distances now and they are cross training for my race walking.
I am lucky enough to of found a fantastic coach who is tutoring me on the finer points of race walking. Or getting my Wiggle on as MrRfc calls it. π. I go every week and we do drills and speed work.
Today I ventured out to park run. I completed my 5km just a little short of 4mins slower than my best time running. At the pace I am now, if I did a Half Marathon at that pace I am already faster than my best HM time.
The reason for the share is running is a great sport once you learn and it can take you so many different places. A couple of runs a week will make you fit enough to take up so many different sports you might of thought were out of your league before you started running. It will give you the confidence to try new things if you want. If you are coming up to graduation and thinking itβs not for me then use it to go somewhere else with it. Once you have that base fitness level the world is your oyster.
And if you just love running that is fantastic too, after graduation there are no rights and wrongs with what you decide to do, just do it safely and your new found fitness levels will pay you back in bucket loads..
Have a happy healthy weekend
