Though this week I hardly have any classes, so in theory should be able to catch up on all my admin and household stuff, and will probably indulge in a bit of baking too. Can also read, do yoga and walk the dog, but my other usual pastimes - singing, dancing, motorhome holidays, eating out, shopping - are currently banned.
Iโve been doing a weekly yoga class for a year or so now, obviously taught by zoom these days. You should give it a try as it fits well with the running, lots of stretches and helps build core strength. Still aches mind you ๐
I think non running days is a much better description of what these days should be, but maybe rest days is a more accurate description of what they actually are. At least for me right now ๐
Work seems to get in the way, compounded by shorter days.
I'd like to say I do some strength cross training but that would be an elaboration of the truth. I did do the NHS Strength & Flex alongside C25K and invested in some resistance bands which had several outings until the novelty wore off. They have been closeted away in their travel case since returning from holiday at the beginning of October.
I keep saying I'll try Yoga but, having never done it before, getting started seems rather daunting.
I did start swimming again, which I love, but of course that's no longer an option so maybe I should treat those bands to a little outing soon ๐
I do like to walk, combined with a bit of birdwatching at the weekends. But that tends to be really slow walking with a lot of standing about and not really moving.
I also like cooking and will often cook up a double, triple or even quadruple batch of whatever we are having on Sunday for freezing into portions for easy mid week meals. Sometimes I make Mondays/Tuesdays dinner on Sunday as well.
I don't know anything about guitars, sorry, but my brother recently treated himself to a Fender American Pro Telecaster and he can't even play!

I do a lot of walking, especially during the late Autumn, Winter and early Spring months when I don't bike ride, I have just come back from a 12K walk this morning, later I will be taking my neighbours dog a walk and tomorrow and Tuesday, more walks, on Wednesday is my longer running day and a Thursday I go to my Thursday walking group, a 4K walk with the group. I like that guitar in that photograph.
I have the four letter word of "work" on weekdays, whether they are running or non-running days. I try to fit in a walk when I can on non-run days, but often get distracted by other things.
Designated running mornings (before work) are only rarely missed. Illness or extremely poor weather are the usual reasons. I always feel guilty for taking an extra day.
Well , being a big Rugby fan (Wasps) I watch a lot of documentaries on youtube and the televised games on Welsh tv, and during lockdown bought up a nice selection of books from eBay on Welsh Rugby ledgends(I read a lot ) I too play guitar ,acoustic, playing Beatles tunes mainly (massive, big time fan of Fab Four !! ) Go through a routine of supplementary exercises on non running days . Also on a never ending learning curve of learning Welsh on duolingo !!
Sut mae !! Yes ,I'm a massive supporter of Welsh Rugby .Born in B'ham and married a Welsh speaking girl.Love Wales , it's history, the culture, the mountains and it's Rugby teams .Regular watcher of S4C and the pro 14 games! Love to see the international players like Halfpenny, and Josh Adams on home turf ! Seeing Wales beat England in Cardiff was my first ever live game and an experience I will never forget , unbelievable !! Dan Biggar is my favourite player of the present era ,what a talent !
I married someone from Pembrokeshire, but sadly he didn't speak Welsh. We were going to learn the language together but sadly that wasn't to be. I'm a lockdown learner and have just made it to 204 days on Duolingo, focusing more on the South Wales dialect (I would love to live in Cardiff).
I went to Judgement day in 2018 at the Principality Stadium. I also managed to get tickets to the Wales v England world cup warmup last August. It was a fantastic day. I'm a member if the WRU and would love to get to more matches if they ever have fans again.
Oooh....check you out Instructor57!! ๐คฉ๐คฉ Well you do look like you know how to entertain yourself.
I donโt do anything so creative on a regular basis, but I do like to do a bit of DIY like decorating. I re-grouted the bathroom and decorated my bedroom during lockdown. I also like to relax and read (not much of that going on at the moment though). ๐ก Itโs been too long time since I really got stuck into a good book ๐ค.
I donโt find it easy Instructor57, but I feel great when itโs done and itโs looking fab ๐. I donโt mind doing it, itโs the preparation that I really donโt like. I have to get my head around the YouTube tutorials first too! ๐คฃ๐คฃ
I always vow never to do anything like it again (every time!), but then I do ๐๐! โค๏ธ
In between everything else and juggling my sonโs football training and matches, itโs tough. Itโs quite nice at the moment as he has nothing on ๐ถ๐คฃ
Ah, I had a sneaking suspicion that you would have guitars! It's nice to do something creative!
I'm afraid that on my non run days, apart from the short dog walks ( my husband is retired so does the majority of dog walking, particularly now the golf courses have closed again), I do very little of any interest due to the pandemic!
Always some exercises in the morning and then work, work, work!
I have an allotment but work there tails off a bit in the winter. I grow all my own vegetables, some fruit and flowers, but it's been so wet it's been difficult! So in theory, am pretty active and do a lot, but the restrictions make it difficult. I used to go into central London a lot to gigs (Love live music), galleries and events! ๐
Bet you wish you hadn't asked! Running is keeping me sane, I think! ๐
By the way, thanks for posting, it's made me determined to get to my allotment more. Also I downloaded some Pink Floyd to my running playlist!
Ah well, all the Floyd fans I've known have guitars! It's a man thing!
I downloaded Us and Them, Money, Sheep and the Great Gig in the Sky. I'm not a massive fan, I prefer metal, reggae and blues-ey music, but am also a fan of electronica (saw Underworld last winter) and always goto the WOMAD festival. So a bit of a mish mash. Am a massive fan of John Martyn (rip) and find his music calming on runs.
I do yoga sometimes. Iโm fortunate in that I have a friend whoโs a yoga teacher and I used to attend her classes. She never forced people to do things they canโt do - she comes up with alternatives that you CAN do! More recently sheโs been working on what she calls more โnaturalโ yoga to help people with anxiety and depression and asked me if she could come round and โshareโ this yoga with me. It has really helped me as much as her kindness.
I like to play the guitar and sing. I have a really nice acoustic guitar and love to sit finger picking chords. Probably sounds terrible ๐.
Iโve done a lot of gardening this summer, trying to keep everything under control! I have succeeded and I think that itโs done, now, with the last mow of the year this afternoon. Maybe Iโll potter a bit on fine days. I have a big garden so thereโs always something to do and I do like being outside.
Iโm getting a bike soon, so will be going on bike rides for fitness. Canโt wait! I also want to swim, when thatโs permitted and safe.
Iโm also a keen photographer, although thatโs taken a back seat lately. I used to love going to the local Wildfowl and Wetland Trust and sit in one of the hides for most of the day, just to see what turns up! Although they are still open, sadly the hides are closed so it will have to wait a while. This is the season for bird photography with all our overwintering birds.
Apart from the bike riding maybe. Last time I tried to ride a bike was over 20 years ago in the Troodos mountains of Cyprus when we hired mountain bikes. I spent more time pushing than riding. It nearly killed me!๐ฅด
Yes, Iโm not sure I could ride up hills! Although if I get the bike Iโve got my eye on, there are lots of gears. Something I have no experience of at all. Donโt know how Iโm going to cope, Iโll have to practise on the riverbank where I used to run to get used to it! Last time I rode a bike I was 11. They say you donโt forget. Itโs like, um.........riding a bike ๐
I usually run twice a week, try to get on the Peloton once per week, and do very gentle yoga in the evenings a few times per week (more evening relaxation yoga than intense yoga at the moment - helps calm the current pandemic anxiety that I seem to have developed!)
Miss my Barre class but hey ho, pandemic wonโt last forever... I hope...
(This is my โidealโ week. Reality is somewhere between none and all of the above depending on the week!)
Apart from working full time as a nurse, so no chance of Furlough for me, I try to practice yoga twice a week. I'm doing LEJOG 4 so lots of walking. Unfortunately some of my scheduled walks have been called off.
I'm also learning Welsh. It is something I have wanted to do for a long time and lockdown has given me the opportunity to do this. I enjoy watching the rugby and would love to go to Cardiff for the internationals to support Wales.
I also read a lot and enjoy pottering in the garden.
So when I am not at work (I am a palliative care nurse and work in a Hospice). I enjoy walking, cooking, reading, talking!! cleaning and ironing (I know very sad!!, I find it relaxing).
I have a son, and 3 beautiful grandchildren who I miss so much and twin boy great nephews. I used to spend a lot of time with them before, sadly not now but enjoy catching up with them all on FaceTime.
I used to enjoy going to the theatre, cinema, swimming, going to Mass, Aqua classes, and a bit of cycling.
I want to start some Zoom fitness classes but still thinking about it!
I used to play lots of tennis when I was younger and want to get back into playing again.
