Week 7 done

I am starting to understand when people talk about gremlins. I started off slow intending to save myself to the end. In the first 5 minutes I noticed my calf felt a bit sore (or was it really sore). I carried on and tried to forget about it and listen to the music.

Before 20 minutes was up I was down on distance but felt I could up the pace.

By the end I had completed 3K within 25 minutes - 150m better than before. I also carried on for 30 seconds to get back to the start.

Do you know what? I didn't feel that bad physically. But I did feel chuffed.

I might be improving.

Week 8 on Sunday (blood donation Saturday morning). I will complete this course now - took me long enough to believe fully in myself.

Well done.

You may find it is wise to delay your run a bit longer after blood donation and keep your fluids well up.

You may feel a bit less strong after giving "nearly an armful", and the cup of tea and biscuit might not be enough to make up for it.

In fact you might not be up to 100% for up to three weeks.

Eat well after the donation. If you're following a diet, relax it for a day or two.

Drink plenty for the couple of days afterwards.

"Nearly an armful" 😁. One for the youngsters there!

I got the quote wrong, missing off a crucial word.

"A pint? That's very nearly an armful."
