Unsure about running in darker nights

So I completed week 9 last week and have managed 2 consolidation runs now but with the darker nights wondering if should run Sat and Sun plus whatever day I have off during the week to do 3 runs or would 2 be better?

What time would you normally run, and what sort of lighting do your normal routes have?

Upto now I have done one run a week after work which is usually 6.30 or 7 pm. I would have taken gear with me so didn’t have to come into house , just drop the car off! I do have a route that is main streets so standard street lighting . Have been worried with the amount of leaves on the ground could miss them and end up slipping.

I have one weekday and the weekend off so wondered if could make daytime runs work til Spring?

If your concern is slipping in the dark, perhaps a head or body torch might help you see where you're stepping.

The key is "see and be seen". A torch gets you the first, and part of the second.

The usual way to be seen is to have something that contrasts against the background. Having reflective and/or brightly coloured (eg. yellow or orange) clothing helps with being seen.

But most important is how safe you feel.

As a new graduate you still need rest days in between runs.

Trust me, they're essential.

Thank you. Might have to stick with 2 a week til spring. It’s more than I was doing 3 months ago!

Any chance of accessing a treadmill?

What is the main issue with running in the dark?

Mostly worried about tripping/falling but will try the advice about a head torch.
