Running in warm weather

Hi, I'm currently on week 4 and just completed run 2. The first run of this week was very good and I completed both of the 3 minute and 5 minute runs, which I was very happy about and gave me confidence going into run 2.

However today it has been up to 31 degrees and it effected my run a lot, I barely finished the last 5 minutes lol. I made sure I took water with me this time to stay hydrated but I had no idea of the impact of the heat!

Any advice from more seasoned runners on how to adapt to the warm weather whilst it's here? Would be a shame to have to wait for the sun to disappear before running again. Cheers!

Get up very early............ don't run in extreme heat.

Run early or run later. And drink massive amounts of water on your rest days.

Massive amounts of water can lead to a dangerous condition called hyponatremia.

2 to 3 litres per day is fine for most people.

A lot of people on here run very early morning to avoid running in extreme heat . Make sure you are well hydrated 7 days a week not just on run days . Good luck 😊😊

It’s been hot all summer here and it really does affect the pace you can run at. As people say, lots of water and electrolytes before you run and after. Run slower. If you have a Fitbit/Garmin/Apple just look at your heart rate and try to set your pace to match your average. If you try to run at your normal pace you will exhaust yourself.
