First post C25K run. Rubbish.

After a four day break I got our tonight and basically attempted W9 again with MJ doing the cheerleading. After 10 minutes I felt more energetic and fresher than at that point during week 9 but noticed I was about 30 yards further on than in W9. In others words, I knew I was going too fast. At 18 minutes I had to stop, stitch pain in both sides and stitch-like pain in both sides near my collar bone(s).

I did intend to spend the rest of 2020 running week 9 in perpetuity and try to 'enjoy' running before embarking on the bridge to 10k program but I know I'm going to struggle mentally now that C25K is behind me.

Could you maybe try something else for the cheerleading to freshen things up a bit? I just did a 30 minute run on the Nike Run Club and the guy comes on every two minutes to ask me what I am thankful for, what I am going to achieve tomorrow etc etc, was quite good 👍

Go on to bridge to 10k 👍🏽 I went straight on to it. Don’t worry about rubbish runs. That’s standard. They make the good ones sweeter. Also, it is fine to stop fora breather you know and then carry on. Is hard when there’s no parkrun or races to motivate you. Maybe do a Race at your Pace medal? I find they are great motivators. The medals are great too.

Sorry about your not so good run, if you have graduated from C25K you deserve to get the badge and the word GRADUATE next to your username, at the moment I don't see that.

Please don't be down hearted; this is in your hands. One run really doesn't give you enough data. If you want to continue, you can. Maybe join the consolidation club and set yourself some goals. Remember why you started this whole thing

I've been running well over a year now and I've just had three bad runs in a row. Today it all fell back into place and I'm a happy runner again. It happens to every single one of us at some point, you have to keep the faith and push on through. Running is a mental challenge as much as a physical one.

I agree with Tendance, have a look at the Nike running club app. It has some great guided runs and advice on it. Also, you don't have to keep running the same 30 minutes now. Try mixing things up a bit - one shorter run with intervals, one run as slow as you can go and one run going 10% further than usual, or try some hill reps and new routes.

Two things I wouldn't do: 1. focus on speed - it will kill your enjoyment and lead to injury. 2. Give up! If you can get past this blip it will make you a stronger runner.

Good luck 👍

A bad run knocks the stuffing out of you a bit, as those of us who have had them know. The trick is to keep going, that's where the real stamina and determination lies. Post graduation running is also a bit of an anti-climax as the buzz of striving towards a goal has been reached. Why don't you try this mini-plan that roseabi shared with some of us who graduated back in May? We were all feeling a little rudderless after consolidation and needed something to get us to the elusive 5k. The plan worked like a dream for all of us and we went onto the Magic Plans over on the Bridge to 10k forum after completing it. The link is below. Good luck 😊

Don’t be down on yourself, everyone has bad runs. It is an odd feeling being let loose after graduation, I feel as though I should be wearing ‘P’ plates 😂

Why don’t you come and join us in October’s Consolidation club where there is loads of helpful advice for immediately after graduation and then onwards from there, roseabi will advice on a tailored programme based on your goals 😊

And where is your graduate 👨‍🎓 badge, you deserve it 🏃‍♂️

Sounds like the gremlins got to you today, and now you're telling yourself that it's going to be a struggle. This us all pretty common post graduation. Having done 3 30 min runs on the programme, that doesn't mean the next few 30 min runs will be easy as it's all fairly new.

I've been there! I would slow down, try and relax into the run, perhaps by choosing a new route, ditching the app maybe, run with or without headphones. Anything to mix it up a bit!
