Hi - I am a 68 and just retired - never ran before in my life but wanted to challenge myself. I started the programme a few weeks ago - hurt my ankle and stopped. Started again two weeks ago and was dreading week 3 - having to run twice as long as the previous week! - how on earth was I going to do that. But listened to all the advice - I took it slower than I had before - and sailed through the three minutes! - I am so chuffed with myself and looking forward to doing it again in a couple of days - perhaps I can get to week 9....... thanks for all the advice on this forum - I have found it really helps this 'newbie'..!
just going into wk 3....: Hi - I am a 68 and... - Couch to 5K
just going into wk 3....
I am sure you will get to week 9, congratulations on completing week 1 and 2 of C25K, glad that you are enjoying it, remember that you can repeat any runs or week's if you wish to, drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration, no running on consecutive days, onwards and upwards ๐๐พ.
Welcome to the forum and well done
on your progress.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.
Enjoy your journey.
Well done ๐ you'll be so glad you started this, just follow the program, dont run too fast, you'll smash it!!!
You run exactly the same total time in Weeks 2 and 3 (9 minutes).
The difference is that you're running fewer times, but two of those runs are double the duration.
Week 3 is the shortest activity of the whole programme, too. I remember it being an effort when I did it back in the middle of July.
Well done ๐ and if you carry on as you are and keep it slow and steady. ( the โ not a secret โsecret to C25k ๐ ) you will take yourself all the way to wk9 and be absolutely delighted with yourself.
Itโs a great programme, tons of help and support and good reading here on this wonderful forum ๐๐
Thx to all for the encouragement!
