Week 8 Run 2 - A run of two halves

After leaving an extra day between runs because of torrential rain here yesterday, I headed out on my second run of week 8 this morning just before 10am - cloudy but not too cold, perfect. However this run was definitely one of two halves!

The ‘toxic 10’ somehow turned into the toxic first half or toxic 14. My legs felt so heavy (I put this down to not drinking enough water yesterday) and I did wonder whether I was going to be able to complete it, even though I’d deliberately set off at a slightly slower pace than usual...

Thankfully I’d planned my playlist so some up beat songs came on just when I needed them most. I was going to finish this run even if it was at a snails pace and I felt like I had weights around my ankles!

And just like magic after about 15 minutes I got back on track and started to feel a bit better. It then started to rain, which isn’t ideal because I wear glasses and hadn’t brought my hat with me, but it did cool me down and I managed to complete the run! The second half was definitely the better half.

Note to self: more water and lots of up beat tunes for the next run!

Well done 👏👏👏🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️👍 Every run is different, and that one just happened to be your run this morning. You could be right about not drinking enough water!

Only 3 runs left before your Graduation run! 😀👍

Thank you! ☺️ Will definitely up my water intake and see if that makes a difference for the next one.

Hi Laura! Well done on completing another run, bet you feel so proud! :) I just did run 1 of week 8 last night and felt similar to you, first half was dreadful then it slowly got better in the second half. I listen to podcasts though so clearly something really boring must have been happening in the first half of my podcast lol

Thank you! Congrats on starting week 8 too 🥳 I definitely think some runs just happen to be better than others. I plan on listening to podcasts once I’m onto the consolidation runs to see how I get on without the music ☺️

Thank you :) Yes definitely, I agree. To be honest, I recommend podcasts more than regular music - for some reason time seems to go more quickly!

Well done on the run! And tune planning is a good idea, may use it for my last two runs 👍🏻 😁

🤣🤣 I've just had my job tomorrow cancelled last minute so looking like a nice early run in the morning for me 😁💪🏻 I feel like I've got energy to burn after a lazy day today, may go for some classic 90s rap instead of dance (did a lot of 90s dance in early weeks 🤣) think il knock up a quick playlist now.

Good going LR, well done on digging in for those first 15 minutes but glad to hear you finished strong 💪

I’ve a running playlist of 100+ songs which I put on shuffle so I know I like all the tunes but never know what’s coming next - keeps it interesting.

Fingers crossed 🤞 for a strong finish to our week 8

Thank you! Maybe I’ll be more gazelle like on my third run of the week 😂 I’m definitely going to be adding some new songs to my playlist to keep me going.
