Is anyone else having problems with the app? The timings given are very inaccurate. The five minute warmup was less than four minutes, the 90 second walk was about a minute and so on. Any suggestions?

Which app?, is it the C25K app? Who is your coach?
The NHS Couch to 5k app which doesn’t require a coach. I’m on week 2
Welcome to the forum.
This issue has been mentioned before, but it is not widespread and possibly is more to do with your device than the app itself.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.
Enjoy your journey.
Ok many thanks, I used to be runner so I'm in the picture with the discipline. I'm starting over at 77 so taking it very easy. Enjoying the workout but not so keen on apps and earphones that keep falling out!!
Sometimes it is the ex-runners and those fit from other disciplines who are most at risk of coming unstuck. (she says with feeling having tried to get her life long runner parent recovering from treatment back to the activity he wanted by using C25K)
Much of the programme is about letting the overthinking and boom and bust tendencies go and just doing what you are told, so the precise timings and whether there's some slippage in accuracy probably isn't very important.
Many thanks for that. I'm not good at 'going with the flow' but will give it a try on tomorrows run. Actually my biggest problem is that I can't keep the (Apple) earphones in, they drop out after fifty yards or so.
I redid C25K earlier this year. I have only ever used one earpod/phone at a time but this year was using pods... and lost the charging case and the other pod, not the one in my ear... so had to do it without. I suppose it depends where you run and how disruptive to others/embarrassing it would be for others to overhear the audio input, but I just left my phone in the top pocket of my backpack and ran like that, I could still hear the cues just fine. Might suit?
I can recommend Mpow Flame sports earphones at £23. These go around and across the ear and stay put no matter how hard you shake your noggin.
My normal buds always came loose.
Many thanks for the tip. I might try a pair. I tried strips of Elastoplast to keep mine in but they still came out within 100 yards
The app's announcements should be pretty accurate. Each run is in a single audio file that's always playing, with recorded silences between the announcements. (That's one reason why the app is huge.)
Don't forget that they often continue talking through the periods of running and walking.
It may be my iPhone but I timed it against a stopwatch and the 5 min walk was less than 4 minutes and the 90 second run was about a minute. Its not a big deal but I'd like to get it right so I'll try my next run against the stopwatch.
