Leg injury stopped me completing the course :(

Hey folks, so I was doing really well and I was on week 7. Was loving the program. Then a whole load of stuff happened at home which threw me off course and as I was about to start up again, my 5 stone staffy (he’s a very tall and big lad, not fat 😂) ran into my shin full force in our garden.

It’s not been broken but I got some cartilage and muscle damage. I was advised not to run for 4-6 weeks.

The time is nearly up and I’m so desperate to start running but also nervous. Any advice about starting again after an injury and time out?

Hope you’re all keeping well. X

Sorry about your injury, you could restart at week 3 and see how it goes then go to where you left off, run very slowly at first to avoid further pain.

Take time to recover and follow the advice in the guide on minimising impact when you restart.

As stated in the guide to the plan, healthunlocked.com/couchto5... you lose no significant condition in the first two weeks of non running.

After that loss of condition is gradual.

All any of us can do after a lay off is to go out and see what we can comfortably manage, then build back up gently, using C25k or something similar as a guide to weekly increase.
