Some weeks ago, during W4 R1 I had a pull in my right quad. Tried to run through it and really hurt myself - took 10 days to recover fully. Ice treatments, massage and anti inflammatories.
Yesterday was 2.5k into W6 R2 when I had the exact same issue with my left quad...... Stopped straight away and hobbled home. Immediately put on some ice packs and am hoping this recovers quickly, as it really messes me up when I get out of sink.
Had purchased a thigh support for my right leg and now think I may need one for my left, plus I have one for my right knee. By the end of this I will be running like a 2000 year old Egyptian mummy

Eek! Sorry to read this - and very frustrating for you. You sound as though you may be quite tight in this area - are you stretching out after your runs and warming up properly before?
Make sure you are pain free before returning and maybe ease back in to them to make sure all is ok. Here's hoping you will be back where you want soon! 🤞🙂
Thanks Sandra, I think I have IT band issues. The pain appears slightly high on my leg for this, but everything else fits.
Will start more strength exercising of my quads and glutes to hopefully combat this and in answer to your questions no I dont think I have done enough.
Will ensure I do more stretching prior to running, have been predominantly relying on the warm up period (5mins) prior to commencing the runs and little strength training on my off days.
The jury is out on static stretching before runs - maybe look at some dynamic stretches or just a good pre-run warm up walk. I was thinking more of post run stretching to prevent over-tightening of muscles after a run. Go carefully with quad exercises at the moment if you are still sore there. Good luck.🙂
Thanks again. I wont do anything until it recovers. I was lucky this time, as I caught it early. Last time It happened after one run and I then ran gain two days later and it really tore.
Thank you for this. Need to do more research on warmups etc, but getting there. Hoping I can go again on Monday, but will see. Never enjoyed running when I was younger, but I think that was because I was told to do it. For me this is the best thing I have done and really miss it when I can’t go.
