Week 5 Run 3

I did it 😄

After running for 8 mins on run 2, i was unsure that i would be able to make the jump to 20 mins, so i toyed with the idea of running 16/17 mins today without the app. A friend of mine convinced me to just give run 3 a go, if i fail, no big deal, just repeat. Weather looked decent in belfast today, sunny autumn afternoon. After banana and 3 coffees back to back, i decided ‘just do it’. Drove to my spot and as soon as i started the warm up walk - squally wind and rain started - a bad omen i thought, i’ll get knocked down or attacked by a cow with rabies. Thankfully a few minutes after i started the run sun was out again and stayed out. I honestly felt good for most of the run, i actually think running with no interval helped me find and keep the rhythm. I just took it very slowly at the start and was able to speed up slightly in the middle. Michael Johnson announced 2 minutes to go - and they seemed to last forever. Started to struggle but just kept going. Definitely mental struggle more than physical. Proud of myself for getting this far, a few weeks ago i thought 90 seconds was tough.

Any one on here that is fearing this run, dont! It is definitely not as bad as you fear it will be!

Well done! That run for me is the biggest step, it's a massive acheivnemt when you complete it and makes you realise very quickly that running for 30 minutes non stop probably is doable despite barely being able to run for 1 minute just a month or so previously!

Good luck with week 6, its a strange one 🤣 but stick with the programme.

You WILL do it 💪🏻

Well done!! And Thank you for that! Just what I needed...

It looks such a big jump... but after reading what you've written, I feel more ready. I start week 5 on Tuesday and was a little apprehensive.. but you've put my mind at ease! Much appreciated!!

You can do it! I actually found run 2 tougher than this one. Just don’t take no for an answer if your mind starts to say you cant do it - especially the last few minutes. You’ll feel great when you finish...good luck, you’ve got this 💪🏻xx
