I have just arrived at the correct decision and looking to repeat C25k for the 5th time by the end of Nov.

After a long 3 month lay off doing heavy gardening my plan was to pick up my build up to a once in a lifetime marathon. My plan was simply to consolidate with 5k’s during the 4 weeks in September by running 25k/week.All fine for the first two weeks and 45k banked.

Then the wheels came off and I simply wrecked myself.

My return plan was always to repeat C25k.I will never ignore the 10% adaption rule again.

I have inflicted two weeks of pain.Opted not to take any medication and let myself repair.I am hopeful that I have no lasting damage but only time will tell.

As I finished the first run today I thought why did I not just use that one run as a tester at the beginning of September. The reality is that it was the correct run for my present level of fitness at the beginning of September. It was enjoyable and sufficiently challenging.

All the very best with your decision to pursue C25k.

Trust the programme and enjoy.

Welcome back to the plan Tbae! I suspect as you’ve done it before that you’ll find it easier than all that gardening! Good luck with it!

Thank you OGR.

Hope all good for you.👍

I am looking forward to C25k preparing me properly again.Always found it strengthened me.

What’s not to like.✅

It will test out any silly damage I may have inflicted on myself.

You have made the senseable decision to repeat C25K for the 5th time, that way you should avoid injury for any longer runs after you graduate, all that gardening work, especially that hedge takes a huge amount of time and energy.

As you have already done C25K 4 times it shouldn't be to hard and by the end of November you will have once again graduated.

Thanks Tbae, I am keeping good and still running, usually it's a shorter 5K run on a Saturday (not parkrun, now ran 15) and a longer distance mid week, I hope to run 12K this week and a second 10 miles run sometime in October, I may even try for HM, but that depends on how I feel on the day, enjoy week 1 once again of C25K. 😊 🏃🏾

Atb with your plans AlMorr.

You have plenty in the tank with your pace Alan, that would easily convert into your planned increased distances I think.

If I get any slower I will be in reverse.🙈😂

We all have to remember that as we get into our sixties and beyond that our recovery times also increase, so pushing out 5 x 5ks in a week would be challenging.

It strikes me that many HM and marathon training plans are very demanding for veteran runners and are often best adapted and carried out over a longer period of time.

Slow and steady, you know it makes sense.

That’s so true IannodaTruffe as always.

Slow and steady.

I hope you are good and thank you for all you do for the forum.

On my previous build up,mid June,I got up to 31km,I found at my slow trot it became more a challenge of building up the hours. If I ever manage to ✅ a once in a lifetime marathon,8 hours is a good stint on your feet.

Getting a bit ahead of myself.Pleased to be back on here on the tried & tested and life changing programme.

I will never forget your advice, wisdom and support to the many people that have found this forum.
