Bring on Week 5 Run 3!

Hi all! Last night I did W5R2 which was really nice even though I did do it in the rain... I can feel that my legs are getting stronger which is so cool! Tomorrow is the "dreaded" run 3 - which I'm actually not dreading at all! For some reason I'm feeling really positive, probably all of the messages on this website have reassured me that I am ready for it. Never would have thought I'd be jogging for 20 minutes, this programme is absolutely fantastic. I'll let you all know how it goes! :)

I am at exactly the same point. Seems a big jump but as the people who planned this have made it ok so far I’ll trust the process. Good luck.

Hi itselenax, it seems this run is infamous in C25K 🙈

For every run I have used the search box to look at previous Q&As, to see how the 1000s of other hopeful “wannabe” runners have approached each particular run and how they’ve managed It. I don’t post often, but I am always reading on here for general motivation. This run was genuinely not as hard as it sounds. The first couple of runs in Wk1, when you’ve literally just got off the couch, THOSE are the toughest I found!

The old advice is the best- if it’s a struggle then slow down and then slow some more.

I have found the music you listen to makes a massive difference. But for longer runs, I’m better with a podcast, something/someone interesting to distract me, while I just put one foot in front of the other.

For me, I always struggle at very beginning of ALL runs and FEEL “I can’t do this!”.

But I have a word with myself, and have to remind myself that EVERY run feels like this to me. It can only be a psychological barrier, and I CAN overcome it.

Keep running and like everyone else always says: trust the programme. It works! 😃 🏃‍♀️

Hi LudoLen, thanks for replying!

We are exactly the same because I trawl through this website quite often looking at how everyone else has coped with their runs, I think that's why I'm not as nervous for this as I would have been without everyone's guidance - I've sort of mentally prepared for it already. I agree about W1, definitely the toughest because I was extremely unfit but oh how that has changed!

I was thinking about listening to a podcast on my run tomorrow but not sure if it will help me as much as music? I suppose I'll give it a try and see how it goes.

Good luck with your runs too!

With that mindset, sounds like you’ll smash it 😃 Your body is ready, the programme has prepared you for it. Just take it really slow and if there’s energy in the tank near to the finish you can put your foot down 👍🏼

Hope you enjoy it, good luck!

Thanks for the encouragement! I always try to go quite fast in the last 60 or so seconds but as you say I'll see if I have enough energy tomorrow!

Yes, I'm at the same stage too! Week 5 Run 3 up tomorrow morning.. It's been strange doing different runs this week - but ok - and I've seen now that tomorrow is one continuous run of 20mins which is kind of freaky! Eeekkk.... I am trying to keep calm and rational about it. We've got this far, some good music in my ears and not going off too fast, keeping breathing in check as best I can and hopefully I can make the 20mins... I'm thinking it's just (almost) twice 8mins and a bit more??? And only ONE RUN? Ok..ummm... Good luck tomorrow. We CAN do this!
