After much procrastinating this morning, thoughts like: Shall I go? Shall I leave it and start afresh next week (and go again at attempting 3 runs per week). Where shall I go? Do I want to repeat a run I know? Do I want to try something new? Shall I forget it all and "treat" myself to a lazy Sunday? Can you even still run??! π¬π¬π¬
I had to kick all of the thoughts/Gremlins π into touch. I started getting ready and bit by bit my confidence came back. I grabbed the car key and set off. Still not sure where I was going I got to a roundabout and made the decision...let's go the local park and try out the park run route.
It is 3 laps around the Worlds first public park (Central Park in New York is modelled on it), it is a beautiful place to be. Getting going, I thought, we (who's we...? Only me out π€£π) can just try 2 laps and see how you feel.
The run felt mostly like it was uphill running or on a big camber in the road. I spent my time snaking on and off pavements, on and off paths and grass, trying to maintain social distance in quite a busy place.
During the first 5 minutes my right knee, felt like it needed to click into place and I was actually hobbling... not sure what happened but I think it woke up and corrected itself. Why does everything feel detached from my head today...like they are not mine ?π€£π
I got round 2 laps, without my watch to check pace and only had Stava telling me every 500m how I was doing (I have only just left my c25k coach behind), once I had hit 3.5k I wasn't going to give up there....I felt OK, if a bit tired but figured it was worth pushing on with.
I got to 5K in around 38 minutes.... which wasn't bad for me considering inclines and all the snaking around.
My 3rd 5K in the bag (consolidation 17, I think) and the distance is starting to feel less like a magnificent achievement and more like, yeah, I can do that without too much bother πππ hurrah!!!
@Tinytears60 and I are doing the Virtual Race for Life next weekend (cue lots of pink πππΈπβοΈ photographs and fizz to finish π«π₯), so this was a good dummy run.
