It’s W9R1 and I had to settle for an evening run due to dentist appointment first thing 🙄 and consequently a numb face! Anyway my knees felt like they were going to collapse when I started my run but I drove through it. The small incline was as usual difficult and each time I got to the top I had to slow down even more to get my breathing back on an even keel. I really didn’t know whether I was going to make this run cos of the way I felt but I kept pushing myself until I got to the last 5 mins and decided to repeat the flat part of the course until I was done
Then Jo piped up in her usual chirpy voice saying well done last 60 seconds, maybe just increase your speed now and put a spurt on!
And amazingly I did!! Must have trebled my speed and really went for it!😀. Yay! So happy!

I know I can’t quite believe it! I usually start quietly swearing at Jo when she suggests going faster at that point but today I don’t know what came over me was so chuffed that I managed it for the first time. Thanks for the clap!
It's amazing when we can somehow just take the bit between our teeth and just fly even though you are just so looking forward to the "OK that's it, you can start to slow down now!". Gives you such a buzz.
If you keep running past c25k, I recommend you try a steeper or longer hill every once in a while, even if you have to creep up it at the slowest shuffling pace you can jog. Because if you do, that small incline that you find hard now will become easy. One day in a few weeks you’ll be at the top of it having daydreamed your way through it and not noticed you were running uphill, and you’ll wonder if it even slowed you down.
Finishing strong was never my strong point doing c25k. It is great that you have the energy to pick up the pace near the end, it bodes very well for the rest of the week!
Thankyou. Yes am intending to carry on running when I’ve finished and I get what you’re saying re the inclines. I know in the end they will make me stronger. Even though it’s a killer at the time!!😀
Thankyou. Good luck on your next run! Everything is changing now that the Autumn is approaching. I’m off to get some warmer items of clothing today for those winter runs! 😧
Congratulations on having energy left for a speed up at the end. Impressive. I'm finding these non stop runs are taking their toil on my old joints and I really don't like the evening runs, but we do keep taking ourselves out there don't we? Good luck with your next two runs and enjoy that 🏞️
Thanks 😊 yes I’d rather get out in the morning to be honest. I think running on an empty stomach is the best. Not that I eat before evening run but I find even if I’ve left it for 2/3hours I don’t feel quite as bouncy 😊
There are various assesories you can get. I use a belt that has two water bottles supplied with it and a small pocket for my apricots or other essentials! Mine wasn’t dear, less than £20 I think and you don’t know u wearing it. Others on this forum use back packs or hydro packs I think they’re called. Not for me though, although they do get good reviews!
