Getting back on track

Around 6 years ago I trained using the c25k method and completed the race for life. I lost around 4 stone and felt great. I gave up due to bad knees and have put all of the weight back on. Around 2 months ago I started to work on getting healthier and I I exercise almost every day. Is there any way I could ever jog again with bad knees? I now cycle 3 times a week and alternate that with beginners aerobics.

I think it depends on what the issue is with your knees. If it was running related, then doing lots of knee strengthening exercises would help, plus other strengthening work. You don't say if you sought the advice of a physio, but maybe that would be an idea? If your knees are no longer troubling you, you could start again and go very slow and steady.

I have arthritis in both knees, but they have improved significantly since I started running. I took it easy, having extra rest days when I needed them, plus lots of exercises to strengthen my knees and it seems to have worked. Try running on soft surfaces rather than pounding pavements.

Good luck

Both knees?

In what way were they bad?

Did you ever go to a sports physio?

thanks to all. No I have never been to a physio. Its osteo arthritis I think. Both knees and sometimes I can hear them grind when I walk up the stairs. I told the Dr once but as I'm still active she didn't think it was worth worrying about. I have just been for a 5k walk and around halfway through i could feel pain starting in the right one which is usually the worst one so I slowed my pace which helped. I don't usually have any trouble when I cycle or do low impact aerobics but my zumba days are over. Lol
