RHAPSODY IN BLUE...ALTHOUGH I WAS WEARING PLUM.....

I woke up this morning only to hear the rain beating down which made me wonder what on earth I'd wear for my run this morning. I don't have a waterproof! Easy! Just bail out 🤣 no - not this time. Today was the continuation of my rehab running schedule. 20 minutes today. I wore a long sleeved base layer - glad that I did. I thought it was a bit chilly. Classical music on, off I set....slowly. This running slowly seems to be agreeing with me although my pace was a little faster than Saturday. Managed to do a circuit which was great. A little bit of Elgar which was ok but then Gershwin with his Rhapsody - wonderful! I think my breathing is less ragged - the slower pace obviously helps. Returned home did some stretches and put my foot in a bucket of ice which was not pleasant. Am feeling so much happier with my runs atm. Hopefully things will stay this way as I build my distance. I don't feel as though I need more rest days in between runs and am actually managing to run up some hills steadily. I am also looking forward to my runs more which helps a lot! Still raining here - I definitely need a good effective waterproof - but which one? 🤔

Can’t help with the waterproofs I need some too, ?? ....but your rehab, so pleased to hear all that, your motivation is stronger than the rain even without waterproofs, splendid, ... you’ve inspired me to get some classical 🎶 on the 🎧🤗

It sounds like that was a strong run, with a good pace too. The bucket of ice sounds brutal! My marathon running colleague has ice baths! 😱

As for waterproofs, I bought a nice lightweight waterproof jacket in Decathlon. Sizing was mad, had to buy a large and I'm a size 10, but it seems good.

Hadn't thought about listening to Gershwin but that might work. I have largely abandoned listening to anything while I run, but now and then on short runs it might be nice.

Bet you're happy with the progress!

I am happy about the run. Mainly because I used to feel shattered after my runs so just to feel good at this point in time is a bonus 🙂

How are you today? Any better?

Yes, the muscle strain has eased a bit, but I will delay my run until Friday. Just a poorly tummy to deal with today! Have ordered myself a pair of Brookes trail shoes to cheer me up! Thank you, so good that you're feeling confident about your runs!

Brookes trail shoes - a much better cure than anything you can buy in the chemist! 😁

I bought a pair of Brooks Cascadia 15 trail shoes today, the second running shoes since I graduated from C25K, the first were bought on June 2019, it means that I can run in muddy conditions, next time I go to that sports shop I will buy a waterproof jacket.

Good advice on both sizing and source Roxdog. I'm a hill walker and have learned that, kit-wise, I get what I pay for and will buy 'good' brands, but for short duration stuff like jogging/running I think that Decathlon/Sports Direct items are perfectly good - my Karrimor rain jacket does a stirling job.

Re: size, I find a loose fit much more comfortable/less restricting too.

Nice run, we haven’t seen rain today but grey and not warm

What you are doing is working so that’s great

Slightly out of character for me - taking it slowly and carefully 🤭

I'm doing the same. Slow and steady and short runs to ease back into it. We've got running for life now - there's no rush!
