So the first of the continuous 25 min runs is in the bag. But my mood was very distracted from celebration.
I decided for this run to take a break from my usual hilly routes from home so took a short drive to a local canal in the valley below.
I locked the car and set off with Laura's encouraging "You can do this ringing in my ears" At the half way point I turned to run back (anyone else always look forward to the half way bell - hearing it always lifts me) But my lift turned to worry as I felt the pocket of my running shorts . There was no car key there. There was a hole in the pocket!
I was sure it had probably dropped through near the car - and it was near moorings and a popular visitor spot.
I kept running back scanning my eyes over the two path as I went, - but visions filled my head of someone finding the key near my car and just driving off in it.
I reached the car not having found the key. I started to search in and round the cars . I was torn between going back along the canal and staying near my car.
Then the heavens opened. Now its one thing running in the rain but another thing standing cold and miserable in a downpour with just shorts and a tee locked out of you car !
I phoned home and asked my wife to drive down (with my spare key) which she could not find. As I considered to search within sight distance of my car so I could keep an eye on it.
Then I spotted it - I soaked small piece of paper with some scrawled on it tucked under the windscreen - someone had found my key and kindly kept it and left me a description of where thy were parked ! Phew ! I retrieved my key and was able to drive home !
So yes I became a "runner" - but not without event !
