For anybody following my tribulations, you know the score.
Well, I got some new trainers and for reasons unknown my shin splints were improved. Not perfect but I managed to finish W2R3. Anything terrain even slightly uphill was a bit of a struggle though. But I did it.
I will be repeating week 2 though for the foreseeable future, just to see how my left leg is after repetitive activity. I’m satisfied to just be doing 90 second intervals at the moment. My calf and shin area need a bit of ‘slowly slowly catchy monkey.’
I’ll see how it goes. Thanks for listening (again) 👍

Amazing news Maxi80!!! 💪 Avoid any uphill until your shins are better - keep to flat as best you can!
Did you complete all of W2 without stopping/walking in the running sections? If yes, I’d consider moving on to W3 and seeing how you fair. I found the stopping and starting of the earlier weeks much harder on my legs - just when they were getting warmed up I was being asked to walk again! Have a think 🤔
I’m just worried my shins and calf will flair up if I run longer 😬😬 I managed to finish run 3 today but golly it was hard! I didn’t finish run 2 though on Wednesday 🤔
And there was still a little bit of shin and calf pain. I’m still unsure as to what a ‘normal’ level of pain is. I think I’m bordering on acute. I just don’t know mate 🙈
This is amazing well done for not giving up! You will get there, and everyone has to deal with injuries at some point you have just been unlucky to have this happen so early on.
So pleased to hear things are improving for you, glad you got new trainers sorted 👍 my knee discomfort has gradually improved now I’m getting used to mine.
Good luck with repeating W2 but I’m sure if you complete that ok and your knees/shins are feeling better you can move onto W3 (altho obviously I’m no expert!) I’m hoping to complete W3 tomorrow...going very slowly 🐌 and steadily, Japanese slow running style 👌
My legs may never be able to run too far, but I’m happy to be doing short intervals. I’m a perfectionist so I’m trying not to put too much pressure on myself as normally I give up before I try.
My left leg was still pretty lame but I have to admit it felt better. I do doubt I could have gone for my than 90 seconds though!
I don’t seem to be able to grasp Japanese slow running as I fear I couldn’t go any slower 😂
All hail the 🐌 and 🐢 is what I think every time I go out 😂 All the advice on here is slow down and slow down again and sometimes, even when I don’t think I can I do 🤷♀️
