The Doctor Doolittle Run!

OK, so I hit the lanes for WK8R2 this morning, and soon enough came to the sheep in the nearby field. I heard myself going ‘Meehhrrr’, whilst running trying to copy their sound. Then onwards towards the horse with the big teeth, ‘Neigh’ I went. Made myself laugh! I disturbed a pigeon and for a few seconds did that strange head movement thing trying to copy it as my run went on. At the top of the hill a farmer had been laying silage on his field. No need for me to do or say anything this time as a fellow athlete (ha ha!) ran towards me going ‘phoarr’ that stinks! I made no further sounds but I just knew that a few moments later, he’d have done that neck thing when he saw the pigeon, and he wouldn’t be able to resist the ‘Neigh’ and ‘Meehhrrr’ further on. I love this running thing!.........

The opportunity to interact with our natural environment is one of the joys of running.

That sounds as if maybe it was muck spreading............silage is for livestock to eat.

Ah you are probably right there. It did pong a bit!

Silage smells like fermented grass. Muck spreading is more likely, as IannodaTruffe says.

If I were a betting man I’d think it was definitely muck spreading.

It's worst when they use pig muck rather than cow muck.

Ha ha, this is literally me!

I pass at least one horse, loads of cows and sheep and two fat hairy pigs on every run and without fail, I *have* to say ‘Good Morning girls!’ And/or wave, moo etc. It would feel rude not to 🤷🏼‍♀️ Animals are more polite than a lot of humans 😁

I thought it was just me who was seriously bonkers. I pass two fields of cows and one of sheep and just have to wave to them and find myself hugely disappointed when the are either at the west end of their respective fields or facing away from me. Then I have a conversation (in my head) about what they think if my running saying things like ‘strange hoo...man 😂). When I was stuck in Portugal I used to startle red legged partridges most mornings (not on purpose😉) and imagine those ladies lifting their skirts and 😱 eeking down the trail in front of me (even after 5 months of this they could not quite figure out that running in front of me didn’t get rid of me and that to do that they had to veer to the side and I’d be telling them (in my head) to the side ladies - the side! But they never got it. Jeez I honestly thought it was just me. It’s so great to know I’m not alone in thinking I’m Dr Doolittle🙃

Just wonderful! Makes me want to run again today! Two weeks ago a field beetle was quicker than me for a few metres.....I called it Lord Coe! I always look for it when I pace the same place!

I know how you feel. Those partridges have stubby short legs (not too dissimilar to mine😂) and for a wee bit they were faster than me too...
