I graduated in July, things were going swimmingly and then family tragedy hit and tonight was my first time lacing up and hitting the pavements since.
I forgot how freeing it is to run, I don't mind I have lost what I had achieved, I've gone back to week 5 and will work my way back ๐
Its been a rocky year even without covid so I've become good at bouncing back, but sometimes you just need reminding why it is worth trying - the stars and losing myself to music and movement reminded me of that today ๐คฒ
If you are struggling with motivation, whether you are doing the programme for the first time, or coming back to it after a period, remember those good runs, those moments of euphoria (yes including when the run has finished ๐) and what is has given/is giving you.
It's so easy to give up, but if 2020 has taught us anything, its that we have to keep going and pushing through ๐ชโค
Warm wishes to all, I hope you are keeping well, I've missed it on here.

Hello AliceInThePalace - I have missed you and your posts. Welcome back! I am sorry to hear that you have been through more difficult times and glad that you have returned. Your resilience is inspiring. You have done it once , so you know that it won't be long before you're back to the fitness you achieved all those weeks ago and the pure love of running. I look forward to your future posts ๐
Hi Alice, sorry to hear youโve been having a rough time, but glad to hear youโve found the strength to get back out there...and write such a lovely, positive and encouraging post..
Iโm sounding a bit like a sermon here, but I really hope running can help you to accept the tragedy youโve experienced and give you something to look forward to every day and be happy about..
Iโve progressed backwards since graduation too.. currently teetering on the edge of another stab at it, so I will look forward to reading more about your progress from week 5..๐
Good to read such a positive posting especially after the your challenges you have had to overcome. I agree with you, returning to a week where you feel comfortable to pick up the pace again , your be back to where you left off very quickly, especially with the cooler weather looming. B
Welcome back, I hope things start to look up for you. Getting out into the fresh air, whether for a run or just a bracing walk really helps to clear your head. I find looking at nature is a great boost, there is always something new to see. This weekend the bird migration really seems to have kicked off with a lot of geese on the move, I love to see the long skeins in the sky and hear them calling.
Hi Alice, sorry you have had such trials to face. However, I admire your mindset and quite agree with you - this year has taught a lot of us about persistence and being happy wi5 what we have. I have struggled since graduating in July too - but am trying a similar mindset. Good luck. ๐๐๐ป๐
What a lovely uplifting post! So positive given what life has thrown at you!
Iโm sorry youโve had some family stuff to experience... ๐ ๐ค
Youโre so right re the running- itโs so liberating... headphones on ๐ง ๐ต and off you go with your music and you can step into your own little space
Ps - welcome back! Your running family is always here to support you ๐๐
