Getting back into it.

After struggling through the winter with my running I have re started c25k at week 5 and as before I was dreading the 20 minutes run. I tried at the weekend to do it but had to have a cheeky walk at 16 minutes. Tried again yesterday, gave myself a talking to regarding my pace and off I went. As always the first 10 minutes was oh why am I doing this, but after Denise told me I'm halfway I thought yeah you got this just keep it steady. And that's what I did, slow and steady and was shocked when I was told to slow down, I'm done! Still had some in the tank and that felt great! I am now beginning to believe I can do this and I so want to run 5k without walking. I will get there in time.

With not knowing how far you got previously and when you last run it's a bit hard to say much, except well done.

I always say week 5 run 3 is purely in your head, it's a psychological barrier rather than a physical one.

Keep it up and you'll be finishing the program in no time.

Thanks, I graduated last August but let it slip over the winter but I keep up fitness by walking, yoga and strength class so I just went to week 5 as I had done a little run/walking before

Ha ha - love the cheeky walk line 🏃‍♀️. I am currently trying jeffing to lower my heart rate when I run so doing the opposite to you and trying to not run solidly for 20 minutes but walk for 30 secs every 2 minutes - it seems equally hard now that I've trained myself into running for 30 minutes on C25K!!! Well done for persevering - your 5K is in sight :)

Thank you. I was doing a bit of run/walk before going back to week 5 but I wasn't too sure of the intervals so I just went for it 😀 good luck with your running

Absolutely fantastic. That 16 minutes was clearly the stepping stone you needed to cover the full 20 minutes today. It’s such a brilliant run to complete. Massively well done to you. 🥳

You might remember that week 6 sometimes catches people out so hold on to that steady pace. It’s so great to feel you’re on your way back after a break. Somehow it makes all the little successes even sweeter!

Thank you, it does feel good to be getting back into it. I'm sure I will do another post saying I'm struggling 😂 but I know it's up and down with this game!

That seems the be the life of a runner! 😂Every time I’ve posted that I’m really pleased at my progress, the next week I’ve had a tough one!!! The best thing is knowing that when the tougher weeks come, the better ones aren’t ever too far away.

Here’s hoping both of us have great weeks fit many weeks to come! ❤️
