Okay, so only a minor victory but still worthy of a celebration I reckon. And I did my run in the pouring rain!!
I'm curious about the progression to week 3. How did everyone find the transition between 90 second to 3 mins running intervals??
I'm stoked that I've even got this far and don't want to get the jitters so tell me about your experiences..
By the way, I am now guilty of doing a little victory dance at the end of each final run. Last time, I had a Rocky shadow box moment, today my last song was Cuba which is a Latin American salsa kinda beat so my final 90 seconds had all zig zagging up the lane on the home stretch and some arms flailing about to the beat πππ
Glad to have a 2 day break now but only to give my legs chance to recover in prep for week 3.
Have a fab weekend everyone.
It's lashing it down here in Cheltenham but at least it's cooler. β€οΈ
It's a fair question to ask about Week 3.. but remember ... in Week 1 you were running for a total of 8 mins. Week 2 was a total of 8 mins... Week 3 is a whopping ... 9 mins.
While many look forward to what's coming up on C25K - and it can be fun to do so, it's mentally very useful to look backwards and remind yourself what you've done so far.
What I mean is that Week 1 'easy' enough to do from the couch. Week 2 was doable from the fitness gains in W1. Week 3... well, W1 and W2 have prepared you for it. Simply as that.
As John_W says, what's happening in week 3 is that two of the runs are getting longer, but you're doing fewer of them. Week 3 has the shortest overall duration of any week's runs.
Well done π you should definitely be proud of yourself π
As Iβm a week behind you itβs really helpful to follow your experience and really interesting to hear the responses to your questions from those more experienced. Am taking it all in and trying to implement it!
Music is defo the key !! I was going for w3 start Sunday but I managed to book a Zumba class so will have to leave till Monday (first since lockdown). Freaking well done tho !! Itβs a funny sort of painful buzz isnβt it πππ
Hahahahahaha. Iβd love to have seen that hahahahaha. Well done on Getting week 2 over. Iβm slightly dreading week 3 but we can totally do this! Us newbies have to stick together. Have a fabulous weekend.
Yes I'm feeling a bit jittery about it aswell as don't want to fail. Hoping my legs will carry me! Need to rest up this weekend and save my energy π
I completed the W3R1 today, it was no where near as bad as I had imagined...!!
I also get so excited when I have completed the runs...I clap and holler like I have run a marathon π
Massive achievement to have done it in the rain, not sure what I would feel was worth, running in the heat we have been doing, or the rain...?! ππΌ x
Made me smile that you also get excited at the end of the runs! It's like giving yourself a pat on the back for every milestone. Let's keep doing this ππ
Well done so far, No victory is a minor one, everyone is well deserved. I can remember having your feelings of worryment like it was yesterday. Mainly because it almost was lol. I've just completed W5 and I'm over the moon. Not quite dancing like you, but I did give the end of w3 a sky punch . Drink loads of water and you'll be surprised what your body can acheive if you let it, your negative head will try to get you to stop but don't let it take over. The elation at the end of every run doesn't stop, it just gets better as you start to realise that you are now a jogger, not a couch patato
Do you know that what you said just there is so relevant to my life right now, not just about doing Couch but everything in life - not letting your negative head get in the way and try to stop you from achieving what you want to achieve. Think I needed that reminder more than you know π
Oh wow! You're inspiring. I wonder if I can have a go? I'm overweight and trying to quit smoking! Don't know if C25K is too much?? Keep on going, rooting for you!
I never in a million years thought I'd be able to do C25K at my current weight and having been so out of shape for way too many years. That's why I am so amazed that I'm doing it!
You can definitely do it. I am also combining it now with healthier eating so it's more of an all round thing. I know that running alone isn't going to fix my health, but a good combo will.
You will get so much support here, from me included because I know just how hard this is. Give it a go. Be your own inspiration πͺππββοΈ
Anyone can do it, it's all about doing it at your own pace. Read some of the older posts on here and you'll see just about everyone was a negative starter, but then become positive joggers. Everyone one of us has a surprised look on our face, shocked as to just what we can achieve. So get off ya butt girl and give it a go (motivational speech lol). What have you got to lose. Don't be one of those that says "I'll start it tommorow" or " It's too hot" or even "it's too cold". Follow the steps, drink plety of H2o and slow jog
Just read your profile, I too was a smoker 40 odd years, dropped down to vaping for 2 years and then gave it all up 3 years ago. I've been a driving instructor for the last 20 years so my fitness regime was deciding which way to walk around the car lol. I decided to try the c25k to get a bit fitter and as my grandson is 4 now, he will soon be out running me. You can come on hear and moan all you like, all you'll get back is positive responses. We've all been there (you will probably even surprise yourself how much moaning you won't need to do)
