I have been wanting to start running again for a few months after not running for many years and putting on a significant amount of weight.
After a couple of false starts where my shins and hips were so painful I could barely walk, I have started the C25K plan with support from a couple of friends I have met through my gym.
I did Wk1 R1 at a much slower pace than before, running for a minute each time was tough but it has got slightly easier each time. I did Wk1 four times and yesterday I moved on to Wk2 R1.
I was slightly dubious that I could run for 90 seconds at a time but I did it, and only had to really push myself to finish on the last run section. I also felt as if I was getting into a better rhythm with the longer run time.
I am very slow, my husband came out with me yesterday and his walking pace is faster than my jogging pace! But I am doing it!
I am shattered, but I can feel my confidence and sense of achievement increasing after each run 😀

Congratulations on completing week 1 🎉 I can honestly say doing C25K is one of the best things I have ever done, so keep going, you should be really proud of yourself 👏😊
You’re out there running so you are already a winner! Go for it!
Hey 😁
I'm in the same boat as you, carrying extra weight and not run in donkeys but I've just managed to complete week 2 and heading into week 3.
I can put my hand up and say I am a seriously out of shape 46 year old but I'm doing it and I know you can too.
Taking it really slowly and steady is what I keep hearing and it works. Don't put more on your body than it can take and check in here often, the support is totally amazing. I'm right with you on this x
Congratulations! You’re out there and you’re running which is a brilliant achievement. I’m now on week 7 and have enjoyed every minute so far. It’s been tough at times but so worth it. I’m overweight too (I’d like to think 2 stone but it’s probably 3). Gradually starting to see some pounds shifting but best thing is that I’ve got more energy and focus. And that certainly hasn’t come by being a fast runner - I’m definitely a slow plodder. Keep on going - you’re already awesome and it’s only going to get better 👍
