Well have to say, new to running altogether.( 63 years old )

I have just completed wk 2 r3 and can honestly say, I think it is getting slightly easier.

I found wk 1 r1 pretty difficult and afterwards read posts on here about not running too fast, these I found very helpful , and once I found a sensible pace things really improved.

This is a great forum, Thanks for the advice everyone, you cant beat experience.

Hiya

Yes, the whole moving thing really grows on you. A nice slow jog is great fun. I find the second half of the run much easier. I think my breathing gets more rhythmic and my legs more coordinated. Keep on going. It's such a good thing.

Welcome to the gang!

Week 1 really is the toughest week. Well done on completing it!

Yep, go slow and drink plenty of water, even on your rest days.

Good luck and enjoy the running. Let us know how you get on

Thanks for the advice, the " slow" part won`t be a problem.

Well done! You're at the same stage as me but I can't say it's getting much easier. I blame my cold 🤣

It can`t be much fun doing this with a cold , but I`m sure you will notice the improvement

when you get better.

Good luck with W3

It does get easier and much more fun. I did C25K last Summer after years of inactivity, weight piling on and getting to borderline Type 2 Diabetes!

Graduated C25K, now Parkrunning most weekends and twice during the week....in November, the Doctor actually took me off my Metformin!! Result 👍.....now doing the Bridge to 10K!

I’m no expert but would offer the following advice (1) follow the programme and don’t overdo it, it’s designed to build you up and it works (also repeat a week if you feel like you need to) and (2) keep reading & posting on here....as you say it’s fantastic being part of a group, there’s plenty of advice, tips & letting steam off here (!) so use it....running is as much in the mind as it is in the body!

Daft as it sounds, you’ll make a lot of virtual friends on here and it’s seeing a lot of my “classmates” from C25K who’re now doing 10K spurred me on to start moving up to the next level.

Anyway keep at it, it gets so much better and it’s a life changer!

The forum has been key to me keeping motivated and encouraged- particularly on those days where the running feels tough (And we all get those days!). Sharing experiences on here is so helpful !

Hi there! You must be feeling pretty proud of yourself. I certainly am ... I'm at the same stage, doing W3R1 tomorrow (Monday). I'm not thinking too far ahead, just trusting the program (this time around ... 2nd attempt) and letting Laura do all the hard work if you know what I mean. I'm also doing all the recommended stretches after each session which probably helps my 55 year old body heal and be ready for the next time. I look forward to updates on your progress!
