W6R3 done . . . In a storm! ⛈

So I checked the weather forecast and the rain wasn't due for another hour. Gear on and out I went nervously for the 25 min solid run. 5 min walk done Michael Johnson kicks in with 'off you go!' And sadly that seemed to be him talking to the weather clouds! I've never seen rain, thunder and lightning like it.

Sense told me to turn back, but I had got my mind ready for this so on I went. Up went the music to drown out the constant bangs and crashes from above.

The next thing I know I'd done 5 mins, then 12.5 mins, then you've got 60s left! I'm not going to say I enjoyed it - I was beyond soaked but I did it!

I'm hoping Wk7, although 25mins each day, will be easier! If I can run through that - I can run through anything.

I hope anybody else who ran through it this morning has got home safe and thoroughly dried out 😁

Onwards to Wk7 . . .

Congratulations on completing run 3 of week 6 in that thunderstorm, plenty of excitement in that wet run, you look so happy in that photograph, congratulations you are now OFFICIALLY a RUNNER, onwards and upwards to week 7 which are all 3/25 minute runs, hopefully in better weather.

My husband very kindly left a towel at the back door for me! 🤣 I think I needed it!

I was once caught in a thunderstorm when cycling, at that time I just kept going, if it was now I think I would seek shelter because of the lightning..

How amazing and exciting! I love storms. Luckily I was back from running just as the rain started, so missed the downpour. You look very happy!

If it's not a stupid question - how do you get your shoes dry afterwards?

I've run in the rain twice and enjoyed it, but it was more like drizzle than a downpour

Plenty of ventilation, I'd have thought. They'll be dry the day after tomorrow.

I stick mine in the washing machine with my kit (in a mesh bag). They actually have washing instructions printed on the inside. But I'm just weird. 🙃

I had to wash my shoes, they were minging! They are currently stuffed full of newspaper and sitting on my windowsill with the window open. I'm hopeful they dry for Saturday now 🤞

Don't forget to change the newspaper, or just remove it, once the outsides are dry.

I have some massive windows on the side of my house and the sun shines through them all day so I just put them there and they’re dry in no time x

You need 2 pairs so you can alternate 😃

Fantastic! Well done👏👏👏 There's one happy runner there 😁😁😁

And what a thoughtful hubby to leave a towel for you.

Are you sure you weren't swimming instead of running? 🏊‍♀️🏊‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

I'm not sure I would have kept going in thunder and lightning ⚡ though....

I think I'd have been drier if I'd been swimming! 🤣

Wow!! That was seriously brave, but i’m sure the adrenaline got you through! Was actually thinking about halfway through my run today how much I would love it if it started raining to cool me down a bit 🤣 but maybe not a thunderstorm haha...
