Firstly you got out there and attempted a run, that's an achievement in itself.
You've just had a bad run, that's all so please don't beat yourself up about it and you certainly haven't failed.
Maybe you pushed too hard initially, trying to make up for not getting out due to the weather, maybe you were dehydrated, there's sometimes no rhythm or reason, it is what it is.
Only you know what works for you, and if you feel you want to re run Wk3R3 again then do so. Doesn't matter how many times you repeat the same run, the most important thing is your out there trying, and hopefully enjoying it 👍.
Next time double down on the hydration, slow your pace and embrace your inner snail. Don't expect miracles and don't bother going backwards a week, you won't accomplish anything except to cement a fear of week 4. Keep pushing yourself to get out there and run, and enjoy doing it!
My self would just do that run again all of week 4 are the same. Go slower this time and I am sure you will be fine. Slow and easy is the phrase for this week and you will get there.
We don't use the F word on this forum........... every run is training for the next one.........there is always something to be learned from any run, even those that don't go to plan.
But slow your running down, I think that’s what happened, running too fast. So, have a rest day and repeat this run, but slowly, and you’ll be right back on track!
You did a five minute run.. woohoo. Well done. It does feel like a jump up to week 4 but you are within a whisker. I wouldn't go back, just repeat. What I find with this programe is how quickly the stamina increases... I bet you nail it next time.. Good luck!
Just repeat the run and try to go slower, you were nearly there with it. And it's certainly not a failure - you still ran and you did almost the whole session. And that's great preparation for your next run.
It did feel like quite a jump at that point in the programme to me too, and was definitely a challenge. I was lucky in that my route was through forest tracks and I was struggling 2 mins in to that last 5 min run then came to a slight downhill and that made all the difference and let me complete it.
You crossed the start line... that means you didn’t fail.
Today’s run made you stronger and fitter... you were so close. You can get it next time... slow down (especially at the start) if you can... relax and run.
There are some days when it is harder than other days. We learn that as we run more, just as we learn to... slow down in those really tough moments, rather than push through when we don’t have the running fitness yet, or stop. It’s all a learning experience, it all goes in the bank. It isn’t a fail. Sometimes the most valuable lessons are learned through experiences like today. Take it slow and steady and you’ll get it next time 🙂
