Thought I didn’t need a sports bra!

Found out the hard way with a rather painful run last week that decent support could be really helpful- I’m only a 34C but this was a bit sore! Even at my slowish pace.

Any recommendations? Find some sports bra hopeless to get on but as a beginner I feel a bit foolish buying the full on sports bras

Advice and recommendations gratefully received

Just reached WEEK 8 - never thought I’d get this far and just starting to love my days steadily working up the minutes now.

Hi sumerplan

i feel your pain🤣

i bought a really comfy one from Sainsbury I am a good few sizes bigger. An E cup. I didnt want to spend much incase I didnt stick it. £14

A lot of people seem to recommend shock absorber but they are more pricy and decathlon have a good range.

Just make sure it fits and is comfy

Hope you sort something 😁

Oh I start week 8 tonight 👏

I posted the same question last week and had lots of really helpful advice. Almost 90% seemed to go for shock absorber. My problem was I'm a large ribcage 40/42 with a C cup so quite limited on what's out there. I went with the general concentus and bought a shock absorber. OMG the difference between my old M&S was unbelievable. I cracked on with my week 5 better than any previous runs. Yes they are expensive; but now I feel secure and happy not scaffolded and anxious. Happy running 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Can I ask... did you go for your normal size? I find it so hard buying this type of thing online!!

Hi, I went on the shock absorber website. Great advice for sizing and they offer a try before you buy policy. You order a few in different sizes styles etc. You only pay for the ones you keep. Once you know your size, shop around on amazon or similar. There's also lots of discounted lines on their site. I got 2 fab bras one full price one half price.

Thanks for the info, that's great. Will have a look later

How did the try before you buy work? The website looks like they do returns only?

You are so helpful - was being lured in by online ads so the Shockabsorber tip is so helpful

Unfortunately the shock absorber ultimate running bra only goes up to a 38. I'm definitely a 40C so I bought a multi sports one and an infinity power bra. I managed to get the multi sports one half price. Both are great for and soooo comfortable. The infinity has a lot of coverage so pretty hot in this weather. I'm happy to put up with a bit of sweaty boobs to eliminate the boing, boing, boing, boobs 😀🏃‍♀️😀🏃‍♀️😀🏃‍♀️

I think it's a really important investment - even if you don't persist with running it will be useful for pretty much any sort of activity on dry land! I'd order a whole load from a place that does free returns and try different sizes and styles until you find what works for you.

Omg! I’ve literally just ordered one for myself! My daughter was horrified that I wasn’t using a sports bra when I run and I thought no sports bra would be able to support my 32f boobs! I really didn’t know where to start so I called sweaty Betty and asked which was the best one for my size and purpose. They recommended the All train sports bra. Expensive but I thought worth investing in. I also ordered the High intensity one as well just to compare and then I will return one. Should receive them in a couple of days so will let you know how it goes but you may not want to wait! AnywY you can always return them. I also got 15% discount for first buy. 😁 I hope this helps!

I’ve got a shock absorber. Brilliant and comfortable. I got it from amazon. Up a band size and down a cup size...perfect for me 👍

I have used Freya & shock absorber - both very good. A bit challenging to get into in this hot weather- talc helps - but once it’s on, all comfy & pain free.😄

I have a shock absorber one. I am a j cup and they are contained and not too bouncy. In fact my bosom is the one thing I dont worry about!

This is a great question. I faced a similar problem in the past. Running in a regular bra has presented a lot of issues. I have asked around and my friends recommended buying shock absorbers. However, I thought it might be a bit foolish to buy something like that as a beginner. So, I tried to find the most comfortable bras that I could find that were not specialized or too pricy. I found pretty good options here shop.join-eby.com/collectio... which I ended up buying. I stick with it to this day and don’t feel like I need to transition to the shock absorber. However, it’s different from person to person.
