On the IC (again) but feeling philosophical! ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Ah well, it was nice while it lasted! ๐Ÿ˜Š Enjoyed my two run sojourn consolidating and promptly felt my foot complaining again! Doc thinks I initially pinched a nerve and now Iโ€™ve added a touch of sciatica to the mix! ๐Ÿคช She reckons 3-6 weeks rest plus physio if need be, followed by a gentle return... not the 28 min runs I did last time!

So, we live and learn, I hope! ๐ŸคžNow Iโ€™ve got over the, โ€œWhat if I can never go running again!!โ€ melodrama in my head, Iโ€™m feeling a bit more philosophical....

Think of all the yoga you can do!

Itโ€™s better than 6 months off!

Youโ€™ll appreciate it even more when you get back!

But, ultimately, itโ€™s still, are we there yet??!!! ๐Ÿ˜„

Oh no ! โ˜น๏ธ

I know how that feels after my 16 days off after week 8 run 1

I also initially had the 'ill never run again ' thought ! Luckily things got (slowly) better .

I had 2 osteopath appointments and I now have an appointment with a sports physio on Tuesday who is also a multi marathon runner, that should be interesting ๐Ÿ˜ฌ he probably does 5k as his warmup routine haha

It's good you are now feeling philosophical about it !

I think once you can accept that you need time out then you can deal with it.

Good luck with the recovery, the runs will be all the sweeter afterwards ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘

Aw, thanks so much Instructor57! ๐Ÿ˜Š Really made me laugh when you said about your physio doing 5k as a warm up routine! ๐Ÿคฃ Great to see a runner though! Youโ€™ll be in good hands there I should think. Be interesting to hear how you get on too! Yeh, last time I was so miserable and thereโ€™s no point, you just have to suck it up and get on with it really! ๐Ÿ˜ŠNow Iโ€™ve snapped myself out of it, I also really need to get into a more regular yoga routine. Iโ€™ll lose all of my fitness if Iโ€™m not careful! Will keep reading everyoneโ€™s posts for inspiration though. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿข

Good to hear your positivity !

And yes, I'll post how I get on at the physio.

I would love to get into yoga but I wouldn't know where to start !

Some of it looks impossible ๐Ÿ˜‚

Yes, some of it does, but you only do what youโ€™re body can do at any moment. ๐Ÿ˜Š I would research teachers in your local area and email them and see if any are doing any classes over Zoom, or similar. Good to get live instruction to start and nice to have the option to join the class in future. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘

Oh No! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ What to say?....

At least you can be philosophical about it now and know that you can come back - albeit maybe with a little less enthusiasm๐Ÿ˜‰

Wishing you a very speedy recovery and lots of Yoga until your next run ๐Ÿง˜๐Ÿง˜๐Ÿง˜You will appreciate it all the more for the wait ๐Ÿ˜

Thanks Birdlady64! ๐Ÿ˜Š Yeh, definitely got carried away in my rush to get back! ๐Ÿ™„Iโ€™m lucky really, as the doc initially said 6-12 weeks rest but then she said I could include the 3 weeks rest Iโ€™d already taken. Every cloud.... ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿข

Ic is rotten. Been there a few times! You'll come back stronger and really appreciate the running! Take it slow when you get back. Key thing is to avoid any return to the IC

Injury is frustrating, but exacerbating an injury by returning too early is foolis, so you are doing the right thing.

I recently had nearly a year of no running after a knee injury, so I sympathise but also urge you to be cautious coming back and be extra careful........you will return.

Thanks for your wise words and encouragement IannodeTruffe! ๐Ÿ˜ŠYour example is also inspiring and puts things into proper perspective! In the meantime, I will tread carefully! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿข

Ouch....sounds very painful. Sorry to hear that.

Take it easy.... and look after yourself.

I could think of a lot worse ways to spend the time than a few weeks yoga.

Oh no. I sorta know how you feel. Since starting C25k in May Iโ€™ve had to stop 3 times for ankle, knee & now hip issues. And every time Iโ€™ve thought โ€˜oh no, Iโ€™m going to lose all the hard work Iโ€™ve put inโ€™. But actually each time Iโ€™ve come back feeling stronger in some way coz my body needed the rest. Admittedly it was a max of 2 weeks, so your recovery time is going to be longer. I love my yoga in between times, and youโ€™ll get stretchier, stronger & bendier whilst youโ€™re recovering. And if you have to go back to C25k, then enjoy the journey. Remember how great the improvement felt back in those days! Thereโ€™s no rush..... just be kind to yourself and do whatโ€™s right for you at the right time. Iโ€™ve gone back to v slow 30 mins run, but am seeing gradual improvement each time I go out & that feels good. You will too. Be patient. Weโ€™re all here with you whatever stage youโ€™re at!

What a lovely post 58soon, thanks so much! ๐Ÿ˜Š Yeh, youโ€™ve been through the mill too, thatโ€™s for sure! Glad to hear youโ€™ve recovered from your last ailment and are on the mend again. Loved ๐Ÿ’•what you said about getting stretchier, stronger and bendier! ๐Ÿ˜„Sounds great to me!๐Ÿ‘ Iโ€™ll see how my recovery goes but, youโ€™re right, if need be Iโ€™ll happily redo C25K as rehab! Would be fun actually! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿข

Thanks so much Beatlesforever! ๐Ÿ˜Š Canโ€™t believe I let passion override common sense! ๐Ÿ™„Luckily, I know a retired physio so will get her advice. In the meantime, going to behave myself, enjoy my yoga and keep cheering everyone on from the sidelines! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿข
