Today it's 6 months since I first peeped out the door to make sure no one was watching and tiptoed out to start my C25k journey. So today it was extra special because for the first time I could actually do what I'd imagined so many times during my journey.
I started C25k because although I've always been healthy I've never been fit. Even at school (wow that's over 40 years ago now!) I was one of those always picked last in any teams at PE ☹️ So having just stopped working in a job that involved a lot of walking I knew I needed to do something and a fellow dog walker mentioned she was doing C25k. So that's where it started but it would have finished pretty quickly if I hadn't found this forum with all the lovely people here to pick you up when it gets tough, celebrate with you when it goes well and offer brilliant advice when you need it most. So thank you one and all xx
So what had I been dreaming of doing and actually achieved today? Well it wasn't anything to do with time or distance it was simply opening my campervan door and setting off at 5:45 for a run somewhere completely new🏃♀️😊🏃♀️
Although the forecast had said it would be 19 degrees at 6am there was quite a breeze and it felt wonderful. On Friday when I arrived I spotted 2 runners about to set off so I asked their advice about where to go. So this morning off I headed down to the river across a field and followed its course in a large loop. I'm now following the 60 minute Magic Plan over on Bridge to 10k (never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that when I started 🤣) so it was just a 20 minute run, just perfect for me today. I stopped several times to enjoy the view, the quiet and to take a few photos…. Everything I'd imagined I might do one day if I could just learn to run for a minute without collapsing!
So for all those starting off keep going you'll get there, remember it's your journey, go at your pace and keep reading and posting on this forum you'll get so much help, advice and inspiration.
Enjoy your running everybody xx

What a beautiful post dijep. I can just picture you this morning enjoying this very special run. Another lovely photo too. Enjoy the rest of your travels and your tourist runs. Please keep posting about them and the lovely photos that go with them. 🤗
It was a lovely run followed by an even better day seeing my eldest soon for the first time since February 😊 But I was completely pooped by the evening all the running, walking (over 240 steps!) and driving. Next run will be at home but off again later this month🤞
Now that I've hit the big 10 I need to take a leaf out of your book and start stopping! I'm always fixated on running non stop so for my new 'Freedom' runs I'm going to stop once in a while and take the odd photo!!!
A couple of months ago Is worked out when my 6 month milestone would be, it made it even better knowing I'd be somewhere new. Yes it's great to look back and reflect on how far you've come.
Lovely inspiring post dijep - thank you for sharing.🙂 It must great to step out of your campervan and explore somewhere new like that...so glad you made it happen!✨🙂
Thanks Sandraj39. It was a lovely feeling lacing up my shoes and just going. Plus when I got back it was still so early there were no queues for the showers 😂
How true, I can't even remember how I found it but I'm so glad that I did. Happy running x
How lovely dijep, very happy to read your great 6 month post this morning, I can just imagine how wonderful that was for you and how I would love to do something similar. Fortunately Mr. j has just bought another leisure battery for our little camper so hopefully we’ll be off soon to find an idyllic spot like the one in your photo. Great to see you stepping onto the bridge, see you over there 🤗
Thank you dijep!! Thank you for the post, the picture, the wisdom, the reflection and motivation. I've saved this so I can read again in the low times. Absolutely marvellous 👏👏👏
