Wk5 R2 so far, so good. 20 min run next. Yikes!

Well, I'm still having a great time with this running lark. When I started, 5 weeks ago and I kept reading posts from people saying that if you follow the programme you'll be able to run for longer and longer, I just didn't get it. But it's true! The regimentation of doing this three times a week and having someone telling you when to start, when to stop and when to keep going really does work.

I'm actually not daunted by the 20 minute run coming up on Thursday. I know I will have to push myself, but that's all part if it for me, the challenge and the achievement.

I've found it so inspirational reading different peoples stories on here too.

I can't believe that 5 weeks ago I could only just run for 90 seconds.

Onwards and upwards folk's! :-)

I've just managed week 5 run 2 as well. It was fine.. In fact today was probably my best run so far; the weather is so great out there and running by the sea was just wonderful. But I'm impressed you are not feeling daunted by run 3: I am feeling quite apprehensive but hoping I can do it. It is quite extraodinary how quickly one gets better. . I started this really experimentally five weeks ago thinking that if I could manage to run for a minute, and I wasn't at all sure I could, I would give it a try. It helps so much having Laura telling you to keep going.

The weather seems to have been great everywhere which has made it so much more inviting to go out. If it had been raining (or snowing!) during the last 5 weeks I don't think it would have been quite as much fun.

I like the sound of your run by the sea.

I agree that having Laura is just so encouraging, invaluable.

20 minutes DOES sound like a long time, but then 2 x 8 minutes sounded like a long time last week. We can definitely do it!

Good luck!

Thanks - yes, I'm looking forward to that high. I think I will really feel like a runner if I can do 20 mins!

You can do it, if I have just done it anyone can. I found the hardest part of the run the mental part, but once you have done it you will feel great! Go for it and enjoy it

Hi. I'm itching to do it to be honest. If Laura says I can, then I can! She's not been wrong so far. And as you say, if you can, then I can! Why not!? lol

I'm enjoying every aspect of couch 25k and this forum is no exception. The support is brilliant.

Thanks for yours - and good luck to you too!

I just finished W5R3 a few hours ago. If I can do it, then so can you! And tell you what... it feels GREAT afterwards :) Best of luck to you.

How did it go? Are you on a high?

Hi! I'm not running until tomorrow morning, so I'll report back then x

We are all so proud of you.

Maybe all the C25K runners should arrange a meeting for a 5K somewhere rather scenic, and run for a charity which encourages children to run?

That sounds like a great idea. I have a feeling we are all spread about not just in the UK, but throughout Europe too! I'm actually in France and I've seen that other people are in eg Switzerland, Holland. Spain. Having said that, I go to the UK regularly so it's not beyond the realms of possibility for someone like me.

I shall look at this closely and see what I can start with. Region, month etc

Good luck for your W5R3 - it's not as bad as some people think and you have trained up to it. Best wishes.

Thanks fitmo. How's week 6?

in reply to Rupertlebear

Not too bad, getting a bit tougher but, as I've said before, we are training up to the next challenge. You'll manage fine if you just keep a clear head and take it slow and steady.

And South America, (moving there shortly) I have seen someone post from oz! It's very global. It's great to knowing everyone is going through the same things or have finished so can share helpful tips! Great motivation. Good luck for run tomorrow. I am doing week6run two tomorrow as well.
