Week 4 completed, trepidation about week 5

I keep feeling like the 5 minutes will never end, that time has slowed, but i keep going. the idea of just keeping on going for 20 minutes seems really odd, not just physically but mentally.

I am going to take an extra rest day, my calves and thighs seem to struggle a bit but my lower abdominal muscles are where i got the most soreness this morning, like i would expect if i had been doing sit ups or more likely that excercise where you lie on your back with legs suspended 6 inches from the floor, which is odd. My sleep is still way off also. sure i would wake up feeling better physically if it wasn't for that.

But i am still suceeding, so its all good.

You have completed all the workouts to date, so you are ready to give it a go...........and in the unlikely event that you do not complete it, you repeat it........no big deal.

This breakdown of W5 may help allay your fears. healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Relax and enjoy it.

Do not have any concerns about Week 5. I found it easier to do than Week 4. (The weather helped.)

I am thinking about whats going to happen in my mind, the runs have all been OK so far, but the passage of time seems way off. Like a sci fi story where time isn't passing as it should, i feel like i should be an old man with a long white beard after each run. Star Trek would call it a temporal anomaly

Maybe the "starchild" sequence near the end of 2001 A Space Odyssey?

"Open the Jog bay doors, Hal."

"OMG! It's full of steps."

Hi Dorian1

C25K is, like any progressive exercise program, a mental test. They should all be easy enough for most of us to start, and then it's about whether you've got the mental strength to see it though, despite the apparent physical hurdles in the way.

Week 5 can look daunting, but really, you're physically ready for it. Your post highlights, like so many before you, that C25K doesn't train the mind, only the body.

To illustrate that Week 5 is just another week and that Week 4 was actually the 'big jump' that many claim Week 5 is, have a look at this:

hope that helps and also gives you more confidence

My feeling is that weeks 4 and 6 are the biggies.
