Week 5 R2 Completed

Well it was tough, I won’t deny it. First 8 minutes were not too bad but I noticed the last minute felt further than I’d run and both my legs and lungs were feeling it. The 5 minute walk was very welcome and I needed at least 4 minutes of it to recover. Once I started running again I suddenly had this feeling that if I had to run uphill or over rough terrain I wasn’t going to make it. Luckily for me at this point there was an alternative route where I could run downhill and I took that option today. Even so I was clock watching for the last 3 minutes and my lungs were struggling. But I made it. The 5 minute walk to the cafe for my skinny latte reward felt wonderful! The real test is Day 3....

Hi! Well done on completing another run, and for pushing on! A suggestion given to me by my asthma nurse - try diaphragmatic breathing, I started it a few weeks ago and felt it has really increased my lung capacity which seems like it might be your problem?

Definitely I'd second diaphragmatic/belly breathing.

Thanks for this. I'm a performer by trade so I have been breathing from the diaphragm for the last 35 years. That's probably why I'm able to do what I can with my lung issues.
