Recommendations for a distance "tracker"?

Hi all! I'm looking for recommendations for an easy to use, (fairly!) idiot proof, simple distance tracker so that I can see if I'm getting anywhere near the mythical "5k"! I know there are various apps for mobiles but I don't think my ancient I-phone is high spec enough to support some of the more advanced apps..... Are there any more basic apps I can download to my phone, or can anyone advise on a watch-type device I can use to see how far I'm getting on my tri-weekly routes around the park! Thanks in advance for any pointers!

I was in the same boat as you just a week ago. I just wanted something basic to track distance and check my route (so as to help me understand where I'd been, and plan future routes).

The Strava app is great. It will try and sell you a paid for subscription to get a heap of extra features, but the entirely free version does the basics of distant, route, speed, etc. well... and it doesn't pester you about upgrading much at all. At least - not for me so far.

Hi, you could try the free version of Strava on your phone !

I'm not certain of the minimum spec phone required .

I use this free version .

I also use a watch, and of course , just like the apps, there are many to choose from .

I personally use a Garmin forerunner 45S watch and absolutely love it !

But as I say, many others available.

I guess it depends on your requirements .

I would certainly try the strava app though .

Good luck 🙂👍

Strava works fine on my fairly ancient iPhone 6 and is dead easy to use.

I use the free Runkeeper app and it does all I need. Gives me distance, time and pace plus a handy map of the route.
