Good morning wonderful running folk...
For those of you who may not know me...I am of course, an Admin here on C25K... but I am also a runner.
I have had lots of Admin jobs over the last months, along with the rest of the team...Quests, badges, etc etc, both here and on Bridge to 10K...but...I am lucky enough to have been given a bit of free time starting next month... which means...(and I can hear those of you who DO know me, groaning), I am able to entertain or annoy you with my running rambles
So... as it is very nearly the end of July I thought I would break you in gently with one of my poetic rambles...with HUGE apologies to Noel Harrison
Running for me, as for many of us, at all levels, is about much more than just running...I run and I ramble...in my head whilst running and then again, when I post my runs. I look around and I see so, so much of the changing world around us. Each run brings a different joy, each run has its own excitement and my first run back at the coast yesterday was a delight. The mountains, the sea and the sky... the beauty in each distant view or close encounter... and when I stopped for a photo shoot... this little character caught my eye... whirling, silently and, apparently, in space.
The song was instantly there, firmly fixed in my head and with my for the rest of my short, but sweet run
The Circles of Your Run
Round like a circle in a spiral, like a wheel within a wheel
Never ending or beginning on an ever spinning reel
Like you're running on a pavement or running on a track
Like you're running in a circle, or you're running there and back
Like a clock whose hands are sweeping past the minutes of its face
And the world is like a spider, whirling silently in space
Like the paces that are done, in each pattern of your run
**
Like a pathway that you follow to a pathway of its own
Down an incline to a woodland where the sun has never shone
Like your legs that keep on moving in a half forgotten dream
Or the sounds of even breathing, like the murmurs of a stream
Like a clock whose hands are sweeping past the minutes of its face
And the world is like a spider whirling silently in space
Like the paces that are done, in each pattern of your run.
**
Voices whisper in your earphones, , words that jangle in your head
Why did that run go so slowly, was it something that you'd dread?
Running through the final sections, there is still another part
Is the sound of distant drumming just the beating of your heart?
All these intervals and sections, and your very favourite song
Half remembered runs and walking, but to whom do they belong?
When you knew that it was over, you were suddenly aware
That the podium was waiting and we all, were cheering there?
Like a circle in a spiral, like a wheel within a wheel
Never ending or beginning on an ever spinning reel
As the images unwind, like the paces that you've done
In each pattern of your run.
**
Happy safe running all of you

Apologies for planting this tune in your heads
