First 5k!!! God bless Shakira

Having watched Zootopia with the kids yesterday I added Shakira’s Try Everything song to my running playlist.

I set off this morning planning a slow steady no pressure 30min run. (I’ve done a few consolidation runs and found I was starting to get caught up in wanting to get faster)

As I was getting to my halfway point, Shakira came on

And then I'll start again

No, I won't leave

I wanna try even though I could fail”

I started to toy with the idea of running on and trying to complete a 5k.

Personally I blame Tippee 😜 having seen her post yesterday, I ordered myself a notch bracelet with a graduate notch but as you pay for postage I decided to order a 5k notch at the same time so I’d have it for when I eventually completed one.

Being impatient though, I decided to take Shakira’s words on board and just go for it so I could wear both notches straight away.

I was feeling good and the steady starting pace meant I felt like I could keep going. I was (and still am) a bit nervous that I will regret ignoring the 10% rule as it took me 43mins to do. I know that is slow but it’s over 10mins more running than I’ve done before 😬

Can’t wait til my bracelet arrives and I have a permanent reminder of my achievements to help keep me motivated on days when the doubt creeps in.

Exactly my thought 😁

I’m pretty pleased with the time to be fair, I was hoping for under 45mins as a starting point and hopefully in time I want to get sub 40. Don’t see my little legs ever getting under 30mins but I’m ok with that.

I went for the black leather so it’ll go with everything, silver for the graduate notch and gold for the 5k one so that way it’ll fit with whatever other jewellery I’ve got on too 😂

That’s the one I’ve got my eye on- there’s a picture on the website... it’s versatile and matches everything else- such a fab idea tho... ticks my girlie bling box but also has special meaning too 👏

so when you run 10k you gonna have to get rose gold! Or diamond crusted! (That is a motivation for me if ever I saw one... but no they don’t do Swarovski Crystal encrusted 😳🤣🤣🙈 a gap in the market . surely? 🤷‍♀️)
