Should I repeat or keep going?

Hey all

I’m currently running outside in the evenings and the humidity is quite high. 67% today. I’ve only just finished week 3 but I found it reeeeeally hard.

What’s the best thing to do? Push into week 4 or repeat w3? What indicators should I use as to whether I’m in need of trying again or simply pushing on through.

Thanks all

Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

If you complete a run then you are ready for the next one.

Can you speak aloud, clear, ungasping sentences as you run?.........if not, you are going too fast.

Slowing down to the recommended easy conversational pace makes it more achievable and for most, more enjoyable.

Enjoy your journey.

I'd suggest a repeat of one day (and don't forget to rest), and maybe try to run in a cooler part of the day or even in light rain?

Don't forget your own internal humidity, too. Drink enough the day before.

I'm currently one run ahead of you. Humidity hasn't been less than 70% here for a long while. I always arrive home dripping with sweat.

Light rain and a cooler part of the day would be magic... they just don’t exist here 😂

Thanks for the tips - much appreciated. Where in the world are you?

I’ve found having 2 litres of water about an hour before going out helps, would love to have it a bit cooler but I do occasionally poor some of my water over me! There are some well placed water sprinklers on my route too!
