Should I keep going

Hi not sure weather to keep running this looks a very slow time I dont think I am cut out to run very disappointed at this

You're running faster than me and I don't have any plans to stop, just finished wk7 - role on wk 8. Can I ask what you use to show you're stats, I would love something like that.

I REALLY don't think the speed is important. I was getting downhearted to see that my speed is very much on the slow side and then I gave myself a good talking to - I'm doing this and it's making me feel great. Speed doesn't matter.

Definitely, slow is still going and it’s still doing you good. Better to be slow and out than doing nothing. Keep going 👍🏻

I think the Couch to 5k name is a bit misleading, as it leads one to think that by the end you'll be running a 5k in 30 mins. Most people who are posting on here say that they aren't running that far during their graduate session.

The important thing is that you're running - that's it! Forget about the time/pace/distance, just follow the programme and run. Once you've graduated and can run for 30 mins you can begin trying to increase your pace if you want to. You'll find your pace/distance change over time as you become fitter and gain stamina.

You ran for 25 minutes at 7:30am in 80% humidity and 20 degrees. During that time your heart-rate climbed to 160+ bpm. Of course it was going to feel hard. But you achieved it.

One thing is certain: all this lovely technology recording runs and providing stats on every conceivable running parameter is only making us unhappy. Please ignore all stats... you are running!!! You run at the speed that you run, and Mo Farah runs at the speed that I drive my car. We are all different. What's wrong with just being out in the fresh air and running for the sheer enjoyment of it??

I'm currently reading Master The Art of Running by Malcolm Balk. Should be compulsory reading before anyone starts C25K.

Keep going, you’re doing brilliantly!

I bet, like me, when you started, running for 25 minutes sounded like an impossible goal, now you’ve done it. Keep it up. It should be called couch to 30 minutes...

Definitely keep going. Don’t focus on the time focus on the achievement of getting out there and doing it. Your doing great. X

Hey Mandy you are giving yourself a hard time but you have just run for 25 minutes and in hot weather! I have 1 more run to complete week 8 and I'm not running particularly fast and I definitely won't hit the 5k mark in 30 minutes. However, if I ever start to get a downer on myself I think back to week 1 where running for 1 minute was hard. I didn't believe I would be able to get to this point but I have. I agree with other people that stats are OK but they don't really matter that much as long as you are running! We all have days where we feel better than others and so many variables will affect our running. Don't give up you ARE a runner!!!!

It’s about building up your endurance levels and I guess you want encouragement to continue. I have recently returned to exercise and I have chosen to do running. Reading the other posts should give u encouragement to continue. So don’t give up.

You’re going faster than those sat on the sofa. I run very slow a 17-18 min mile my husband when he comes with me for support he walks so we look a right sight, I could never run at his speed he does 7-8 min miles, he’s 6ft and been running for 18 months I’m 4’11 and 5st over weight and been running for 3 months. You run at what you feel comfortable this C25k is more about running for 30 mins continuously than speed or distance I’m assured that comes later. Keep at it hun it’ll be worth it in the end. X

Please keep going. I am a slower runner too but running gives me so much more back in return than my pace. It gives me confidence as I feel what my body is capable (pace is irrelevant) it gives me a bit of me time to chill with my music. It gives me time to think and sort my head out. It gives me a little rush of Happy hormones after every run. It helps control my weight, it helps build my muscles. All these great things come from a run regardless of your pace.

Keep going, lots of us can't get too worked up about speed. You're out and on the move - and in this heat so you are doing brilliantly.

I always think I’m too slow or whatever but at the end of the day, YOU ARE WINING! You’ve gotten off your bum and decided to get active. Well done you! And me and everyone one else for doing the same.

I probably go at the same speed. I don’t think the speed matters one bit as long as your running! My daughter (30 years younger) laps me and more!

Hi Mandy, please don’t dwell on the speed element of this. My pace currently varies between 10:15 per km 11:28, (depending on the temp) which means that I’m not even hitting the 3k mark in 30 mins. The point is, I’m running!! I’m running for a whole 30 mins, whereas when I started this programme, I struggled to run for 60 seconds!! I can’t do 3k yet, but do you know what? I was chuffed to bits to hit 2.94km on this mornings run 😃. I plan to slowly increase my distance over time now and hopefully once the weather cools a bit that’ll make it easier, but be proud of what you are doing, not what you’re not xx

Keep going it’s not only distance but how far YOU have come. I run in a park full of fitties they zoom along and don’t really seem to sweat and then there is me. One day I might be like them and actually I am happy being like me on this journey.

Oh Mandy, Mandy!! You have everything to be tremendously proud of. I am doing my 7th Post Grad run in a few hours and I’m nowhere near running 5k! I’m a graduate and I’m not alone here either. I didn’t even track my runs at all just did each run and felt bloody fabulous having done it! It’s in the bag is the best feeling ever, even now when achieving the 5k seems a bit of distance away! But....l have gone from struggling to complete 1 minute runs, to running for 30 mins without stopping and perhaps needing a paramedic! 😂 Once upon a time, I would have thought that’s how that story would end! Not so now!!

I’m having one of the most amazing experiences in my life so far. I’ve only just started tracking post grad and I felt the same at first, but like the rest of the running gremlins along the way, I’ve kicked it up the butt and slayed that one too! Who knew I could run? Certainly not me. Cut out for it? Certainly not in my wildest dreams. Quite the opposite, but you know what I’m running now and so are you!!

If tracking causes you to feel any less joy than you know you should for how far you have come and what you have achieved, delete the tracker I say! You have your coach and they take good care of you along the way and so will we!! The App I use post grad doesn’t give you the option, otherwise I’d turn off the distance now too! My only goal now is to keep running. And I’ll let my body do whatever it needs to make that happen ! Slow? Maybe? Who cares!! My mantra “Out there, don’t care”! We’re rocking it together! Every time I go out there, it’s a win and I’ll be better for it! So will you! 😉

This is your journey and you’ll do it your way! There is no right or wrong, there’s just some amazing life changing transformation taking place! Enjoy your runs! Have fun and keep posting! ❤️

Here here Fabulous! 👏🏻👏🏻 when stats start to wreck the running it’s time to ignore for a while. I found the same with tracking my 1 mile swim times. I pushed too hard to beat my time, week on week, then pulled my shoulder and it took me months to get back in the pool because all the joy had gone. I now use tracking once a month and enjoy my swim. I’m not going to make the same mistake with running - I hope! See you in a bit 🙋‍♀️
