Just finished week 2 of consolidation runs. The last 10 minutes of running for 30 minutes have been SOOO challenging I was in danger of not enjoying it, and then in danger of giving up. I’ve been chatting with my grown up son who is complaining of knee-niggles and I keep recommending Japanese slow running to him, to stand more upright and shorten his stride. (Also this forum for advice) So decided to practice what I preach. My split times per km went from 6:45/7:00 ish to 7:20/7:25 ish. And the miracle is: I ENJOYED it, I could keep going and actually did the 5k in 36 minutes. I am so delighted! So everyone who worries about speed: DON’T WORRY!! Slow=steady=progress.

Absolutely amazing! Well done you, what an achievement 🎉🎉🎉
Well done! A snail’s 🐌 5k is just as far as a hare’s. 😌
Thank you. I need a snail badge I think. 😂 I couldn’t run for a bus 11 weeks ago. It still surprises me that in slowing down I still run a similar distance in the 30 minutes, and I REALLY want to enjoy this and keep running.

You are doing brilliantly and what a great time for your 5k! I have only just got mine sub-40 incidentally during my longer run.
I embraced my inner snail a while ago as she is working so hard to get me where I want to go 🐌 🏃🏼♀️ 😊. It’s nice to know she can put a little spurt on occasionally though 😃.
