Just ran for my first ever 30 minutes!

I should be over the moon! But sadly I don’t think I’ll be graduating this week. My ankle has been playing up since the end of week 8, so I’ve been doing ankle strengthening exercises and thought I’d be ok. It was niggling all the way around and the with 5 minutes to go it felt much better, but when Laura told me to slow down to a walk I couldn’t! I mean, I can weight bear on it and I’m not in pain, but doing certain movements really hurts and it’s just not right! I just feel that running again after a days rest might do it in completely! So my graduation run at a park run doesn’t look likely now 😫 I’m absolutely gutted that I’ve come this far and had an injury at the last hurdle!!

Oh so sorry to hear that things haven’t gone to plan! The graduation run will be amazing, so take care of yourself and enjoy that run feeling 100% ready! 💪🏽❤️

Ouch! It is okay to take a break when you are injured. Sounds like you need to slow down and maybe go back a bit till your body catches up with your determined mind. You’ll get there. We all have bad runs and injuries sometimes. Stick at it!

Well done on the 30 mins, but sorry to hear your ankle is playing up. Maybe a few days rest will help. It’s better to have a short delay than to continue and cause a more severe injury imo.

Absolutely agree! Thank you 😊

Here's a thought, for the rest of this week continue with your ankle strengthening exercises and some walking if possible and no running . Then on Monday start running again and fingers crossed you can do your graduation run next Saturday at parkrun. Hope this helps somehow 😊😊😊

Thanks Buddy. My GP friend has told me to not run for a week (or 2 😫) and to make sure I’m warming up and stretching properly to aid blood flow. So I probably won’t run until next week now 😪

in reply toBuddy34

That’s a really good idea 👍🏼 I could just delay it a week

Poor you, rest up, RICE - raise, ice, compression elevation. Give it time to heel the park run will still be there

Thanks Granny it’s so frustrating but I need to listen to my body 😪
