So, i had an early appointment with the psychopath (aka Osteopath) this morning, she gave me a real good workout !!!.

the problem was/is definitely Piriformas and not skeletal .

wow, she really bent and stretched me this morning , i thought my stretches were good until today ! 😳

she is happy for me to start running again in a couple of days .

the interesting (and possibly disappointing) thing will be to see what i can comfortably do .

All i know is that i will not push it too far !

i will go out on my normal route and see what happens five minutes at a time , the first ten minutes is just around the area of my house , and if i am uncomfortable i will abandon it and come home , if not , i will carry on .

it will be 14 days tomorrow since my week 8 run 1 so i am interested to see how i will be .

Two things for certain, i will keep it slow and however long i run, i will not be sprinting the last 60 seconds!

other than that, we shall see and back to the Osteopath a week today .

so fingers crossed ! 🀞

Awesome news! I am sure that you will find that you are still capable of picking up from where you left off.... I am finding that this is more of a mental battle now, rather than physical!

See you at the finish line.

Thank you ! πŸ‘

I'm so relieved to be able to venture out there again , and also to know for sure where the problem was !

I think my hamstrings are twice as long now as well after that session with her πŸ˜‚

I am SO SO pleased for you!! Good to have an official green light from a medic.

I will be avidly following to see how you get on.

🀞🀞🀞🀞 it goes well for you πŸ€—πŸ€—

Thank you !

i appreciate that .

how are you doing now ?

Plattszo profile image
PlattszoGraduate in reply to Instructor57

Well, was going well today, and it is easing off a lot. Seems to be more in my heel and foot. Can't figure it out and it's driving me mad thinking about what to do but overall, think it's subsiding.

Not sure if tomorrow is too soon to go out.... so many questions...!! πŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆ

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate in reply to Plattszo

oh, i know THAT feeling .

even now i have the green light it dosent mean im 100% recovered !

i'm actually quite nervous about it 😐

Plattszo profile image
PlattszoGraduate in reply to Instructor57

I am sure you are only bervous because you care a lot and really want this to work, as much as you want to avoid pain.

Take heart in that you knew you had a problem and stopped the programme and now you will be very attuned to your body and you will know if something isn't OK.... what run were you up to 14 days ago?

If you let me know when you are going out, I will try and join you... same time... β”πŸ˜Š

Bit or moral.support and knowing we are testing the water together?? Just a thought, no worries if not πŸ€—

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate in reply to Plattszo

you are absolutely right !

that's exactly why im nervous,

it was week 8 run 1 . i completed it but it took me ages to stagger home.

the real frustration was that i had no issue with the run! which was why i sprinted the last 60 seconds , i even thought to myself as i sprinted that this might be too fast ! it was the second i stopped running that it hit me !

it might be sunday morning when i go out but that will depend on the next two days.

haha i was not going to say incase i abandoned it though πŸ˜‚

Plattszo profile image
PlattszoGraduate in reply to Instructor57

Completely entitled to abandon it, that's all up to you. No pressure here πŸ€—

I'm sure I speak for everyone who is following your journey when I say I would just love to see you gomout there, run gently and come home injury free.

I am debating tomorrow night or Saturday. It's not completely gone, but getting impatient πŸ˜”

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate in reply to Plattszo

Thank you so much ! 😬

i would also love to know you have done the same, completed it pain free

yes same here , not completely gone , thats whats bugging me but i guess a little discomfort (not pain) is to be expected first time back out .

im going to give myself a discomfort scale of 0 to 5

0 to 2 i will continue , if it gets more than 3 i will stop .

i have a mixture of impatience and apprehension πŸ˜‘

Thank you, i was just saying to others though , although im happy about it, a green light doesn't make me 100% fit, i'm quite nervous about it

PlymBorn profile image
PlymBorn in reply to Instructor57

I can imagine and appreciate that. Listen to your body and ease back at a time / pace that you feel comfortable with

Instructor57 profile image

yes, i will see how i feel every 5 minutes and only keep going if im not having increasing discomfort .

That's good news mate! Take it easy and maybe go back a few weeks to do the intervals rather than one continuous 28minute run (I'm not saying this just so that incan catch up) . You've been out of it for 2 weeks so you'll be rested atleast. :)

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate in reply to f1madman

Thanks , I'm just going to take it 5 minutes at a time and see how it goes

packersruns profile image

Great news!! Bet you are itching to get out there, like everyone else has said - take it slow and steady until you feel ready to go back to it. Good luck :)

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate in reply to packersruns

Thank you !

On one hand I'm itching to get out but on the other hand , quite apprehensive 😐

I hate going backwards with anything I do 😁

packersruns profile image
packersrunsGraduate in reply to Instructor57

Yeah I understand, it’s difficult when you know that you have to go back a little bit but you don’t actually lose any significant fitness in the first two weeks of not running, so you’ll still feel pretty fit I think, you might only have to go back a week or something - it’s all about just testing how far you can run safely really πŸ˜…

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate in reply to packersruns

Yes, exactly , my first outing will just be a test .

If I'd had two weeks out but no injury then I wouldn't be worried ,

We will see ,

Thank you for the support !

I appreciate it πŸ‘

And keep up the great work on your consolidations πŸ˜πŸ‘
