Good Morning!
Today was my first run too. Went just after 7am. Jo is my coach and it went really well considering I don’t think I’ve run any distance since the age of 16.....🥵
I struggled a bit about 3/4 of the way through despite heading home and being on the last 2 or 3 run sections. Got back and had a large glass of water and I really recommend the cool down stretches. They really helped.
Good Luck! We have nothing to lose!
Welcome to you too greenhooks. Everything said in my reply to nineweek2run is for you too. Go for it - slowly with joy and sled compassioN. 😀👍💪
Welcome to the forum and well done on your decision.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.
Enjoy your journey.
Welcome! And congratulations on starting the programme 🎉🎉
It can take quite a leap to actually start it, so well done to you and to GreenHooks 😃
Top tip - read through everything that IannodaTruffe put in his post and follow it through!
Believe in the programme
Go s-l-o-w-l-y
Believe in YOURSELF!
Let us know how you get on with each run. This is a really supportive forum with really friendly people.
Hi Loudish,
Thank you so much for getting back and for support and tips. Wow just done first session gosh very unfit didn’t realise how hard 60 seconds to run could be. Going to do this feel very motivated, so happy to be part of supportive forum. Happy running everyone
Oh I remember week 1 - I was so hot and red and sweaty, and gritting my teeth and hissing ‘you can do it’ at myself! And afterwards I was sort of embarrassed (coz hot, sweaty, red mess and - shock horror - wearing running stuff 😱), but even more than that I was chuffed to bits!
I’m on week 6 now. If I can do it, anyone can!
Good for you, good for you, good for you 👍😃
Well done for making the decision to get started 👏🏻👏🏻. Just follow the program and take it slowly. Better to go slowly and go the distance than to run too quickly and burn out too soon. This program really works but you probably won’t believe it till you get to about Week 5. Good luck!
Hi Frizzbomb67,
Thank you so much for taking time to reply and tips . Well just finished first session wow who would have thought 60 seconds could be so long to run!! Really want to do this and get fit! Thank you
Adding my congratulations on starting. It’s a great program and there is lots of amazing support and information on this forum. So welcome aboard.
M best advice is trust the program, don’t be afraid to repeat runs / weeks as it all helps build stamina and strength, there is no such thing as failure as long as you go for your runs, go slowly and embrace your inner snail, and don’t be hard on yourself, be kind and compassionate with yourself and celebrate every time you get out there to run cos you’re doing a brilliant thing.
I started 10 weeks ago I’m 62, overweight and was super unfit. Been lucky as haven’t pulled and muscles (I put that down to luck and going slow) and I’m doing my graduation run this afternoon. I cant believe it but it’s true. And I got here through C25k. So welcome and enjoy. 😀
Oh wow that is so inspiring thank you so very much and massive Well Done! Enjoy your graduation run, you must be so proud of yourself thank you for all your great tips. Look forward to hearing how your graduation run goes
