The classic 90’s film Cool Runnings (a firm favourite with the adults and kids in my household) is what got me through today.
Still a few week 9 nerves in my tummy as I woke up this morning and for some unknown reason into my head flashed the scene from the film with the above quote. So I got up and got out.
The usual lead filled legs 5mins in and another quote from the film started playing in my head,
“I see pride, I see power, I see a bad-ass mother who don’t take no crap from nobody!” This mantra repeated over and over and created a nice steady rhythm for my legs.
Half way in and I started to really think about how I feel when I’m running (had read a few posts on here about people not really enjoying the running bit just the achievement bit after) I looked around at the green and the sky and felt the freedom of being outdoors, I felt grateful for a body that is doing more than I thought it was capable of and I felt an optimism that it can and will do more. Yes I enjoy the running bit too.
So final quote that my cheesy pop culture loving brain delivered as Sarah stated 60secs to go and I sprinted to the finish...
“I’m feeling very Olympic today!” 😁
