Maintaining my tradition of a run on my birthday, I managed a 3.6 mile run today - on a treadmill as it is very wet today in the Isle of Man. Not the right weather for St Swithin's Day.
Just posting to say to those struggling, Never Give Up!
Couch to 5k has kept me running over the years and it can for you as well.
Here in the Isle of Man our lockdown has ended and everything is back to normal in every way. Thanks to robust testing and tracing we had our last case of Covid about 45 days ago.
Mind you we have closed our borders to keep you pesky English out, but have an air bridge with Guernsey who have had a similar success story. We initially followed the UK methods, but quickly changed when we saw the disaster you are experiencing over there.
Please stay safe everyone, especially those, like me, who are classed as vulnerable.
As long as you are doing C25k you are invulnerable!

Happy birthday to you Duddles, a good birthday St Swithin's Day run, that is great news that everything is back to normal now on the Isle of Man, if there are any parkruns in the Isle of Man it would be a good idea to restart them soon.
The official ParkRuns have not re-started yet, as I think they are an English franchise, but local athletics and events are now back in full swing, though we lost a few events during April and May. No doubt the virus will return here when we open the borders again but for the time being we follow your Government's handling of events with astonishment.
During our lockdown, the amount of runners, cyclists and walkers out exercising was amazing - and it shows that with a different structure to work/life balance how life can be so much better. Perhaps April could become a regular annual lockdown month to let Spring spring without our interference and people to get back to a period of contemplation and exercise.
Mind you, I am looking at lockdown through the rose-tinted glasses of someone who is retired. Keep safe and well.
Please can I come to the Isle of Man because I’ve been super careful and keeping myself away from anyone not in my household 😇. I’ve been merrily doing my runs along the empty beach cutting back through a blissfully deserted caravan park but tonight I noticed it was heaving! Noooooo 😩.
I really hope they’ve got their modelling right with this but based on experiencing the last few months, I have little confidence !
You can come here is you really need to escape - BUT - you have to apply to our Government with a valid reason, and then when you arrive you will have to isolate away from ANYONE for 14 days before being allowed to step outside your house/room. Onerous, but it saves lives. I have been classified as vulnerable, just because of my age I think, so I have done most of my runs on a treadmill, feeling uncomfortable running near to people. But now we are covid-free so there is now no problem - if you can get over, after a fortnight, you can run wherever you want.....
