Another glorious day in the Isle of Man - but very cold. We rarely get snow or frost here, though it looks from the forecast later in the week that even our Island may get a bit of a dusting.
But what we do get is wind - especially from off of the sea. So the first run of Week 2 on Douglas Promenade, with a turbulent sea alongside, was done with a noxious knowing Headwind giving me full blast in the first three runs, and then when I turned back, so did He. Or so it seemed. Hard work, but the runs done, and now sitting at home with a real fire, and amazed at so many of you on here who turn out every day, whatever the weather.

I completed Couch last October by doing it all in the gym on a treadmill. Easy to get out of the door that way - no rain, mud or headwinds. I am finding running outside again is a bit more addictive, and looking forward to it more than the treadmill. I am now experiencing that it takes a lot more resolve to get out of that door though. Some amazing posts on here from people running through the snow, hail, ice and Peppa Pig* muddy puddles.
I’m on the Isle of Man and know exactly what you mean- especially on Douglas Prom! I did my run on Saturday up and down Port Soderick Glen which was nicely sheltered out of the wind. Also, the various bridges mean you can vary the run a little bit by doing some little loops rather than going up and down in reps (I’m easily bored!). My run was week 6 run 3 so a 25 min run. It was a bit difficult mid point passing some of the benches. It would have been tempting to sit on them for a little rest. 😂
I've been looking for any other Manxies doing Couch25k, in vain. I hope you don't mind - I have followed you to see your progress. I have completed C25k a couple of times but stopped running straight after (I do Walking League Races, and the Parish etc) Starting again after a fairly serious illness at Christmas, to build up strength and stamina. Port Soderick is probably a lot more demanding than the Prom, hills all over the place - you must be going well. Keep posting to keep me encouraged about getting out there....
Tonight I did W7R1 around Castletown. Running around the streets in the old part of the town wasn’t too chilly- I guess heat comes from the terraced houses in the narrow streets. I would love to do a Prom Run but not to confident yet. I’m running very slowly!
There is a Prom Run on Saturday which I have been thinking of doing, but just a couple of weeks too soon. I could probably walk it in about 35 minutes, but I want to be a 'runner' as well. I did a 5k walk on the treadmill at the NSC this afternoon in just over 36 minutes and before Christmas did a Winter Walking League 10k at Andreas in 1.08 - so my walking is nearly quicker than my running. I am going to aim for the April Prom Run - and of course there is a Park Run every Saturday at 9am at Nobles Park. Might go for that as well...
