Tech, hill and muscle trouble ☹️

Thought I'd try a different route this morning, fully aware that there's a massively long and steep hill for the 3rd km, but happy to walk if necessary. To start with, my TomTom watch couldn't find the GPS so didn't start till I'd run the first km, slightly frustrating but all was going well. Then came the hill! Well I managed the start of it but ended up walking and even then it was hard. My right calf muscle was objecting and felt a bit tight so I stopped to stretch and give it a rub, then got going pretty well until nearly home, when PING my calf muscle ouch! So now I'm hobbling around, thinking I probably won't be running for a while. Grrrr.

Aww injuries always suck. My left calf likes to give me a hard time. Stretch it out--if you can consider foam rolling it a bit, icing it and elevating it for a while. Mine was back in order in a couple of days. It still twinges when I run on hard pavement for longer runs but it sorts itself out with stretching. Consider running on a track or grass if you have access to one next run.

Thank you - I will do the gentle stretches tomorrow having iced a lot today! Glad to hear that it might not take too long to be back on it.

Thanks HappyNoodle! I tried running 10 days ago but still the calf was playing up. I've had some physio and I think I'm ready to go again - except it's too blooming hot now! I'll be back on it in a day or two - perhaps just a few short joggles to begin with. Thanks for asking! I hope you and MiniNoodle are both doing ok x

All good thanks, it’s probably good to have the extra rest. Joggling sounds perfect to me. Mini started W2 but will probably finish it next week now
