I'd get it checked out by your GP to be on the safe side.

I would definitely get that checked out by a GP asap.

Well my husbands right calf muscle is also much bigger than the left. To be honest, we've never even thought to ask the GP about it - he ruptured his Achilles' tendon on the left side many years ago and had a lot of muscle wastage after surgery and being in pot for several weeks. We just assumed that this explained the difference!

Perhaps you just lead with your right leg and therefore that muscle's more developed? Look at Chris Hoy's thighs from his days as a pro-cyclist..

Since I started running my right calf is larger than the left and also I have a very tight right Achilles tendon which needs to be stretched every morning, whether I am running or not. In an informal discussion with a mate, who is a sports physio, he said that many people are asymetrical and that does not necessarily cause problems, but can potentially be quite serious. I was very aware on a recent uphill run that my stride action was uneven. I am beginning to suspect that I have one leg longer than the other (which is quite common) and intend to get it checked out soon, before I buy my next pair of road shoes.. It might stop me from running round in circles.

Although mine are the same width I lead with my right, wear my shoes down quicker on that side and that is probably why I get recurrent right calf trouble - I suspect I may have leg length discrepancy too. I'm trying to redress it, strength training both sides, trying to lead with the left... but it's not easy. :-( Perhaps some strengthening exercises on the left might help you?

I went on the treadmill after work and i have actually noticed that i do lead on my right so that is probably why i think unless i get any pain then i wont worry about it =D No point in worry about something that isn't causing you pain ey? Also it might have something to do with my right foot being bigger and my drs also told me my tendons were to tight when i was trying to get into the navy and because of it they wouldn't allow me in then again they did tell me to much exercise could make them snap but hey ho you only live once...
