Week 5 run 1

I enjoyed that?? It was easier than I expected?! What magic has happened to me over 5 weeks or so? I know I have had a week off here and there but I am actually ok to run 5 mins stretches 3 times? I’m a bit scared about the next ones but hey ho, I can repeat if I need! I tried out new trainers and it was a mistake! My left sided toes go numb so I’m praying it’s just too tight laces as I font want to use my last new pair as they have seen 4 months of action and may be out of whack now x damn flat feet!

Sounds like a really good run for you.... (even if your toes were a little uncomfortable)....... Great stuff! 😊👍🏻

Yes the best out of all of them! I had a bit more in the tank so slowly jogged up the hill home and felt fab! X

Good morning 😊

Glad you enjoyed your first run of week 5, it sounds like you’ve made great progress since you started!

I noticed you cursed your flat feet - for how long has this been an issue for you?

Look forward to hearing back from you!😊

Hey Adam, from

Around 6 years ago when I was exercising and running regularly, I was having back, knee and ankle issues and was referred to the hosp, had a guy looking at my running gait etc and prescribed orthotics, but they are very hard plastic things so I went to the acis shop and bought my best trainers ever! The gel kayano 24, they were amazing and solved most of the issues, but I can’t afford them right now so have had to use Adidas cloud and now stability trainers and they are not a patch on the gel kayano

I’m glad you found a trainer that really helped!

Since they’re not an option now, have you ever been given any exercises to do to strengthen the smaller muscles of the feet? Orthotics will force your foot into a shape, but having the strength within the feet to hold its shape is even better!😊

I didn’t even know there was such a thing? I thought it was orthotics for life and expensive trainer???

Here’s a video with some ideas for movements to improve your foot strength:

I would particularly recommend the exercises between 5 and 7 minutes for building foot strength and function!😊

Thankyou so much! That’s kind!

As for how often to do them - as often as your time allows. They are small muscles so will recover quickly 😊
